Advantages: cheap
Disadvantages: wrong delivery address, incorrect delivery timescales, customer not contacted
I have bought several DVD's and videos from Choices Direct and the prices were all right (I use Shopsmart and pick the best value - Choices often came out top). Delivery was okay though on several occasions it was a few days after the time specified on the website. The last video that I ordered has been a complete nightmare from start to finish though, and I'll relate the story below On 16th June I ordered a video from Choices for a friend's birthday on the 25th June. The website advised the video would take 3-10 days to arrive. That was fine. I entered in my friend's address for Choices so that they could deliver it direct and told my friend that the video should arrive in time for her birthday and if it was late it would only be a few days. That was the last I heard. I had no email confirmation of receipt of my order or that the goods had been despatched. My friend advised it hadn't arrived in time for her birthday but then she didn't mention it for a while so I assumed it had landed. On the 14th July a package arrived at *my* house. Yes, you've guessed it - my friend's video - one month late and arriving at the wrong address. My friend lives over an hour and a half's drive away so this was not only inconvenient and/or expensive to hand deliver or take it to the post office, it was also downright embarrassing. I emailed my friend and explained the error and then emailed Choices. I advised them of their three errors; 1) no email confirmation 2) video delivered 3 weeks after they said it would be with no explanation of delay and 3) video delivered to wrong address. Ten days later I am still waiting for even an acknowledgement of my complaint. My advice to anyone using this company is simply DON'T. The level of mistakes is too high and their lack of concern regarding sorting out mistakes is inexcusable. Sure mistakes do happen, so a co
mpany's merit has to be in their ability to own their mistakes and sort them out. Choices fail miserably on all accounts UPDATE: After 12 days and a follow up email threatening them with a solicitor, I got an email response, saying they would give me a £5 refund. My August visa bill has just arrived, with the Choices Direct debit but NO £5 refund. One wonders how these people manage to dress themselves.
