Advantages: A couple of pounds cheaper
Disadvantages: Long delivery, very poor after sales service
Just purchased a washing machine from Comet Clearance. Not going very well so far. Took a long time to be delivered (14 days). Now arrived and the item is faulty!
Phoned up and the best they can do is send an engineer round in 9 days.
All I want is a refund now - would rather just buy a new one for the hassle caused. Can't believe it takes so long.
I will update on this situation, but so far all I can say is AVOID! It wasn't even that much of a bargain!

- 11/10/06 Just to update - the washing machine has been confirmed faulty by Comet. The engineer said it is missing some parts in the control knob. He couldn't fix on the spot and would have to order parts. Great! These items are supposed to be tested before being resold. I now have to book a date to have the machine collected before they will offer me a refund. They refuse to give me any compensation or discount in light of these problems. Will be avoiding Comet from now on.
So, facts about Comet Clearance:
The Bad:
- Long Delivery, with no delivery date given until ordering.
- Item Delivered Faulty, IE it doesn't work.
- Long Engineer call out time, one and a half weeks just to prove faulty.
- No compensation or discount offered in light of these problems. You'd think they might help out - I still don't having a working washing machine!
The good:
- Minor discount off full product price...
- Web site seems to operate ok...

- 03/10/06 I bought a fridge off them a few years ago. The price and service was ok, and goods were as described, small dent. I was looking at them for a dishwasher but bids go up to almost shop price and with delivery, it adds up, so I went somewhere offering free delivery instead! |
