Advantages: Wide array of stock, footwear for all the family, great shopping experience
Disadvantages: Waiting time when contacting them via phone
I first encountered clogs.co.uk when I was searching the internet for a certain type of Converse shoes for my son's first birthday. The Converse in question were apparently out of stock everywhere and so I was overjoyed to find them in stock at Cloggs.
I found the Cloggs website through Google, after typing in my keywords and was advertised as 'a fantastic footwear store' that stocked Converse and with free next day delivery - definitely worth a try!
After clicking on the link from Google, I was taken to the stores home page. As this was my first visit I took some time to look around the site and found it easy to navigate.
At the left hand side of the page is the option to search for Men's, Women's and Kids shoes as well as brand names. At the time of me shopping they also had a 'Sale' section where footwear at reduced prices could be found. Underneath this was also a section which asks 'Why shop at Cloggs?'. A number of determining factors for me when shopping online is the cost of delivery, efficiency of delivery returns policy and if I can check there and then if the item I want is in stock. As the site already advertised that it offered free delivery on all orders, I took a look at the returns policy. This was clearly explained, advising that they offer a 28 day return policy. Better still, any returns would cost me nothing as they include a pre paid returns sticker with all orders.
Happy with the site so far, I proceeded to use the 'Search' function to find what I was looking for which took me straight to the shoes that I wanted, and I clicked on the link that took me to a new page. This page provided detailed information on the shoe, such as its design and material. It also advised in capital letters that the shoes were kid's size shoes, to avoid any confusion for any adults wishing to order them for themselves!
Further down the page was the stock information. All sizes in stock were assisted with a green tick and all sizes not in stock were assisted with a red cross - very clear and straightforward.
Seeing that the size I wanted was in stock I added it to my bag by clicking on the green tick under the size I wanted. The item then appeared in my shopping back at the top right hand corner of the page which displayed how many items I have added to my bag and the total cost.
In order to complete the checkout process I was required to create an account - a simple process which required me to provide my email address, invoice and delivery address. I was then taken to my order summary which displayed the items I had ordered, my delivery address and my invoice address as I opted to have my items delivered to an alternative address to ensure that I could accept the delivery. Delivery options were also offered. I chose the free UK standard delivery but other options such as Premium Next Day for £4.00, Next Day AM for £7.00, Saturday delivery for a steeper £15.00 and even an option which would ask the driver to avoid the school run for £15.00 - perfect if you were expecting a delivery but didn't want to miss it when dropping the kids off at school.
I chose the free standard UK delivery which has a delivery time of around 2-3 days and completed the payment information. All major debit and credits cards are accepted as well as Paypal.
After placing my order I received a confirmation email immediately, which provided me with an order number, a summary and cost of the items ordered and the delivery address and also provided details of the returns procedure.
The next day I received an email to tell me that my items had been shipped and the day after the shoes were delivered by a courier company.
The item was exactly as described and enclosed with the shoes was a delivery note which again outlined the returns procedure and a pre paid returns envelope, should I need to return them although I didn't need to.
The whole process from beginning to end was extremely simple and straightforward and a very positive online shopping experience. I have shopped with Cloggs numerous times since and on only one occasion have I had to return an item as I felt that the shoes didn't look like the picture on their website. I received an email from Cloggs to say that they had received the returned item and that my refund had been processed, which appeared in my bank account a few days later.
On more than one occasion I have also contacted Cloggs via telephone to enquire about an item that was showing as out of stock and I wanted to know when they were expecting the item to be back in stock. Although I was on hold for around 5 minutes waiting to get through to a representative, when I did they were extremely helpful and although couldn't provide me with the information I wanted there and then did call me back to let me know when the items were due in.
The prices are extremely competitive and most recently we have been buying Crocs from Cloggs which are substantially cheaper than the official Crocs store.
The site is easy to navigate and they have a vast array of footwear available. Unlike many other online shops I have encountered, their returns policy is very clearly laid out and is reiterated to the customer every step of the order process.
I highly recommend them - they are the first online shop I refer to when looking for footwear for all of the family.
Summary: Well stocked, friendly footwear specialist

- 23/11/09 Thanks for this review: I'm considering buying something from the site but have been finding quite a few negative reviews on the internet so am glad that they aren't all bad. |
