Disadvantages: The worst shopping experience I've ever had.

With Christmas coming up, this story is quite chilling when you think of how useless an inappropriate gift bought from Comet can become in the space of 3 hours.

I bought a Samsung fax machine for my mother (I spent £99.99 so it was far from the cheapest on sale) from Comet on Octover 22nd. 2005. I got it home and she found the machine's LCD display hard to read and the ring tone and maximum volume too muted and quiet. We took it back to Comet 3 hours later to try and exchange it for another fax machine and the manager decided my mother's difficulty hearing the machine / phone ringing or reading the LCD display were insufficiently good reason to justify giving any credit against the one we'd bought for another with a variety of rings and larger text on the display or a refund. The Samsung fax machine we bought is now on sale used as a "bought in error" for £50 (as if you needed an incentive to trawl the classified adverts for bargains, I can vouch for the fact there's one very good deal on a new fax machine going right now! I thought the machine was good but it's not my eyes and ears that will be using it). Including my time and the messing about with 2 trips to Comet, I can only suggest you avoid them. It can be an expensive waste of time and energy buying from them and the Comet staff's idea of service / technical help is slowly wandering into the store room to find a manual and then returning to read the wrong page from it to you. Brilliant!

Summary: I feel like I've been conned.
