Comet - Poor Customer Service - Slow to get an Engineer Out (Comet.co.uk)

We bought an Indesit WIL133 washing mchine from Comet On-Line on 1/10/05. It arrived on time & all worked ok. However, on 3/5/06 it developed a fault (no power). I checked the fuse & it was ok & so I rang Comet the next morning (you cant contact them after 6pm).
I was told that they didnt have 'any slots for an engineer' available until 10/5/06 (i.e. for a whole week!). After explaining that we have a young baby & that a week without a machine was unacceptable I was told that they will ring me IF they get a cancellation (I live in hope!).
I suggested that I take the machine to a store myself & ask for a refund but I was told that they wouldn't accept it as the store wouldn't have an engineer there to confirm that its faulty!
I will try to update this log with my experiences after the engineer has been.
UPDATE : Comet have just rung to say they can come tomorrow!! I'll wait for the result before I upgrade my satisfaction level.

Summary: Time taken for Comet to rectify washing machine fault is unacceptable.
