Disadvantages: Misinformed about Complete Care warrenty

Having encouraged my UK based Daughter to buy a high end HP Laptop from Comet I now feel bad. We bought the extended Complete Care warranty and as bad luck would have it a heavey object got dropped onto the keyboard and broke several keys, Laptop still worked fine though, cept couldn't type. Anyway once sent back for repair over a month went by, so when pressed they delivered a brand new laptop and cancelled the policy... However my daughters grandma did not know that the replacement laptop was not the exact same model (Dual Core Media Center) and now she has a much cheaper replacement and a cancelled extended warranty. Gong back to the Comet store only achieved sympathy, but a sorry you signed for it and its not our problem. This is 3rd world service from Comet... Living here in the USA service from the big stores is not like this. I feel outraged that they would sell these iffy extended warrenties and just want to warn others its probably not worth it when you think they now have the money for a higher end laptop and all the money for the extended policy only to dish out a low grade laptop as a solution to this claim. Buyer beware. I am activly trying to get justice to this issue... will keep you updated.

I worked for Comet and I can guarantee that if a replacement is authorised the customer would get either the exact same model or a choice of models upto the original price paid. Comet would not just pick out a random laptop and send it to the customer. Plus if you didn't get it back its worth noting that if it was under 1st year then HP would carry out repair, after that Comet would repair the laptop, if HP did repair then accidental damage would be chargeable but if comet did it its very unlikely there would be many brand new HP laptops with worse spec than the original purchased over a yr previously.

So was it the daughters grandma who took the laptop back then? And yet youre complaining about not getting the correct laptop? I think that in this instance it may well be down to customer error at the same time as Comet not realising that the laptop purchased isnt the model given as a replacement. Im not surprised you received poor service from Comet but at the same time if you are the buyer of this product initially then the buyer has to go back to the store or at least submit a copy of the receipt and if the store can't give back the exact model demand for a similar laptop AND extended warranty.
