This to warn people that Comet's Total Product Cover is not worth the paper it is printed on and should be avoided at all costs! Four years ago I took out £250 of cover for a TV which cost me £2000, thinking that this would give me peace of mind. Seven weeks ago the TV was declared "written off" after Comet failed to repair the set three times. Instead of offering me a TV to the value of the original, I have been fobbed off with a model that costs £700 less. I have spoken to customer services no less than six times over the past two weeks. The first representative I spoke to was so arrogant, and suggested that under the policy, they could have offered me a replacement that cost just £500, implying that I should be grateful. I am still fighting for a decent offer, or my money back (in vouchers only, I might add!). This is in sharp contrast to Argos's extended warranty which allowed me to purchase a new tumble drier of the same purchase price with none of the stress I am having to experience from Comet and their appalling lack of customer service.

I would give them ZERO stars if I could.

Summary: Comet Extended Warranties - overpriced and useless

Unsure if this is what the problem is or not but in some of the extended warranties a depreciation clause is added in. This means each month/year a % is taken from the price you first paid so if it broke down 3 years into the warranty and if the depreciation annual value was £500 that makes sense. At PCWorld our warranty allows a customer who has a broken machine to replace it with one of same or better specification. This can be chosen by a customer with the help of a member of staff.
