I recently purchased a Panasonic SJMR200 minidisc from Comet direct(over the phone). I was offered insurance, 3 years @£29.99 or five years @£49.99. I was told that with the five years insurance I would get my money back if I did not claim, so I opted for this insurance. However, over the phone I was told none of the following, and only that I would recieve a refund if I did not claim after 5 years. I then recieved my insurance certificate 1 week later, and I failed to read the smallprint. The smallprint said that you had to detach the form, and send it off within 2 weeks (bearing in mind 1 week had already gone) to recieve another certificate, which then entitled you to claim the £49.99 back after 5 years. I only read the smallprint a day before the deadline which the form had to be sent off for. So, I sent it off anyway, and recieved the next certificate a few weeks later entitling me to the £49.99 back after 5 years. However, Comet expect you after 5 years to send yet another form off to claim back the £49.99, which not many people remember after 5 years. So, Comet expect you 5 years later to remember to send a form off within a week of the insurance expirity date to claim your money back.
BEWARE COMET INSURANCE SCAMS........
P.s. the Comet website is very helpful and layed out, with much of useful information...... I wonder why?
