On Friday we (my partner and I) walked into Comet intent on having two Skyboxes for our houses ? one for the kids and one for ourselves. On speaking to a salesman we found we would need two subscriptions, two boxes and two satellite dishes ? which we paid £150 for there and then. The salesman was very helpful, checked we could do this with Sky and then booked installation for us on the following Tuesday. Great, we thought! I cancelled our ITV Digital box in preparation and on Tuesday an engineer came to fit the dishes and boxes only to let us know that we can?t possibly have them because: (1) you can?t have two dishes on a house without planning permission (2) the packages we purchased are one per household only.

Fuming I telephoned Comet at Luton who kept saying they would ring Sky to sort it out and ring me back. After an afternoon of calls I was so fed up I drove to the store and demanded to see the manager. All they could do was show me an assistant manager who I had spoken to on the phone and hadn?t called me back. After much phoning Sky he said I could have what I wanted if I paid an extra £170 for a different shareable dish, £75 installation and unknown cost for cabling. Not wanting to have a heart attack I calmly told him ?NO ? I have paid you already and I want what you owe me ? two Sky boxes working in my house?. He then phoned Sky again while we were there but low and behold they were shut at 6.45 p.m. He told me he would telephone Sky tomorrow and then ring me by 12 noon. 12 noon came and went with no phone call so I phoned him and he said he hadn?t been able to do anything. As I was at work I was very polite when telling him that it was not good enough ? go away, fix the problem and then ring my partner this afternoon without fail. He did ring back this time (wow) to tell us that he really couldn?t do anything. When home I phoned the store manager and finally managed to get hold of him. Mr G Blake told me that he knew the situati
on and that there was absolutely nothing he would do apart from refund our money, even though he admitted his sales assistant shouldn?t have sold the contracts in the first place. When I asked if he would deliver the refund to my address because I had spent too much time already sorting out his store?s incompetent mistake he laughed and said no, you have to come to the store. So much for customer satisfaction! To add insult to injury Mr Blake did not seem bothered about bad publicity and replied that I was more than welcome to report him to Comets complaints department at head office and was also more than welcome to put the details on Internet sites.

Advice ? don?t even think of going into Comet, after this experience it is obvious to me they don?t come through with the goods and then try to extract extra money for the goods they have already sold you.
