Advantages: none for me
Disadvantages: Faulty Goods, Poor Service, Customer doesn't matter
I'll keep it short. I bought a Hitachi 28" Widescreen TV as a Manager's special at £400. It came with a 3 year warranty which all in all worked out at about £200 discount. OK so it was ex-display and obviously well used but how could I lose? I mean, 3 year warranty. Well, I got it home and turned it on. It worked beatifully - for 30 minutes. Then it turned itself off. After an hour, it worked again - for half an hour. I bought this TV in May 2002. I have had 4 service engineers to my house and finally they took it away. Each time, more parts were ordered and each time, it could not be fixed. It has now been in the workshop for nearly 3 weeks and they are still working on it. (apparently) I have been offered a refund but not a replacement because it was a manager's special. I have been offered no form of compensation for the fact that I have been without the TV for over 3 months (48 episodes of Eastenders - a blessing perhaps?) No-one seems to appreciate the frustration and no-one will accept that this TV must have been faulty when it was sold as a Manager's Special. Now I am not saying that this is the case, but, if the manager has a faulty TV, I guess he loses it from his stock. If he sells it with a warranty, he gets the cash and who pays for the repairs??? Not wanting to get into the realms of Libel but you decide.
