“ Type: Gift / Greetings „
I came across this site when looking for unusual birthday cards for colleagues and friends.
I have used Moonpig before, but couldn't find what I wanted this time. A google search brought up this site and I was pleasantly surprised by what I found.
The website opens on their homepage with their name followed by 'The Art of Greeting Cards'. As I had never heard of them before, I had a look at the Information tab, which advises that they have been running since 2005 'to present the finest range of contemporary and innovative paper greeting cards and birthday cards online' and there are lots of cards that I have not seen elsewhere. You also get the opportunity to personalise most of the cards in some way.
The Home page guides you to choose from
The Collection (which takes you to a page showing the different collections available,)
Personalise (generally adding your own greeting in one of three styles)
FAQ, to answer the most frequently asked questions.
Below these are pictures of the best selling cards
Also on the Home Page is a scroll facility to view the different collections and more details about them.
The collection I particularly liked was the Tommy Cooper one, where one of his one-liner jokes is printed on the front (along with a small fez), with the punchline inside. As an example:
'Front of card'
"Two aerials meet on a roof -
fall in love -
'Inside of card'
The ceremony was rubbish but the reception was brilliant"
Corny, but great, especially as a friend of mine keeps doing a Tommy Cooper impression (badly)
There are 20 or so different collections, including:
Uncooked - simple looking cards with a small picture and wording. Here is an example of the wording, slightly cruel to some, perhaps, but I think it is funny and you have to know the person will get the joke;
"it's your birthday
and quite honestly,
you've never looked
better. well, obviously
you looked better
a few years ago but
what can you do."
Bald Guy - nothing to do with bald people. A funny animal drawing on the front and more wording, e.g.
"I can't believe
you're a year older.
Well, until I look at you.
After that, it totally makes sense".
Prices are from £2 to £3, with personalisation free. Postage is 99p for orders under £6 and free over this amount. I ordered 3 cars on a Friday lunchtime and they arrived on the Saturday, so no complaints there. The card can be sent direct to the recipient, if required.
The cards were of very good quality printing, on good card.
They say they have a full refund policy, if you are not happy.
I found the site easy to navigate. One point is that if you are ordering more than one card at a time, I think you have to personalise them as you add them to your basket. I chose three different cards but couldn't work out how to then add the greetings, so had to start again (that might just be me!)
Usual credit cards are accepted, plus the option of Paypal.
Overall, I loved the cards that were available. OK, the selection is, perhaps, not huge, but these cards look different. Try them, have a look and hopefully you can find one suitable for your friends or loved ones.
