Advantages: Good customer service via newsgroup, Huge range of goods

Disadvantages: Some people report bad service

I've been using Dabs for several years now, and have had absolutely no complaints. Whether I've been buying a single printer cartridge to bits for a new computer, everything has arrived next day as promised - and any queries about products that I've had have been answered quickly and accurately.

However, reading the comments on Dooyoo and elsewhere paints a different picture - there are lots of complaints about shoddy customer service. It does appear that if things should go wrong for any reason that you've got a good chance of having problems - although those that don't aren't nearly as vocal as those that do. The best way it seems to get things sorted (and fast) is to make a post on the newsgroup, uk.comp.vendors. Dabs are one of the very few companies that post there - and they react very quickly if people post complaints. You'll find the directors of the company on there (Paul Sharrock and Jonathan Wall) - and they regularly give updates on what's happening to people's orders. To their credit, everything seems to get fixed very quickly if you post to that newsgroup - superb customer service.

Dabs have changed things around in the past year or so, giving away Dabs Points which can be converted into Air Miles (10 pounds spent = 1 air mile). When this was questioned on the newsgroup (people said they'd rather have a discount), one of the directors replied saying Air Miles cost Dabs next to nothing, to they might as well keep them. Also, the same person said that they'd been losing money overall due to their free delivery policy - you only get free delivery if you spend a fair amount of money with them (currently £75+VAT). In addition to their main site, Dabs run an auction site as a sideline, which can be useful if you know exactly what you're after. I've not used it personally, so can't usefully comment on it.

Overall, you really need to read uk.comp.vendors to get the best out of
Dabs - they both solve problems and invite comments there, unlike most other vendors. Dab's range is excellent, and although they're not the cheapest, they are a good, honest company to deal with - highly recommended!

Letting us know about the newsgroup is a real boon: I subscribed immediately. Thanx!
