dell.co.ukNewest Review: ... Asrock, Kingston etc, etc, etc. The list goes on and on. Dell simply build and install the components in a case or tower branded with their logo. Something I do myself (not in Dell branded cases though) and I can tell you from experience - it's not difficult. I first noticed that Dell were over-pricing their PC's when I decided to look on their website from the point-of-view of a buying customer. I attempted to 'buy' a PC with the same performance, capabilities and components of a PC I had recently built for a client to see how it compared in price - I was shocked by what I found. If you were to buy a PC from Dell without customising it... more |

As I work as in IT I make it my business to peruse the websites of PC manufacturers; mainly because it's one way to keep in touch with what's going on in the industry and I also do it for enjoyment. Dell are one of the World's leading PC manufacturers so, naturally I try to be familiar with their systems and practices. This review isn't really about their computers per se - it's about their website and their pricing practices. Firstly, don't be fooled in to thinking that Dell computers are any better than any other computers just because they are market leaders - they are not - Dell don't make computer components that go inside a ... I love this store now, just had my new laptop delivered a brand new M1730 and it didnt cost me a penny, My old M2010 kept blowing graphics cards after 3 years of use, on the forth offered engineer visit I refused a repair and asked for a replacement... and they did it! Always take the 4 year repair or replace warranty, especialy on laptops, you WILL need it and this is living proof they will replace...even with a newer model if they discontinue the model you buy :-) I got a credit note from them (for the amount I originaly paid for the original machine when i bought it) through the XPS helpdesk after some amount of chasing around and indian call ... I have purchased my last few laptops from dell and have generally been pretty pleased with the laptops themselves and the service. The customer support part of the company is probably not the best especially with call centres based abroad in India and there has sometimes been difficulty in getting the right support when problems occur. Dell is not like many offline stores where the computer or laptop is already in stock. You place your order and they build your customised machine from scratch. Before purchasing the laptops I have used the dell website to look at the range of computers and laptops available and to look at the different options and packages ... Read the complete review

I've just ordered my 3rd laptop from Dell (over a period of a few years - I'm not rich!), and I really am impressed with everything about them. Their website, prices, delivery and machines are excellent - which is the reason I keep going back there for new machines. Plenty of online and high street stores sell laptops now, but I always go back to Dell. Why? Simple really, with Dell you can customise your machine and get exactly what you want. Simply browse the website for a machine you like the look of and click the Personalise button. You'll now be presented with a whole array of options you can use to customise the look and performance of your laptop. You ... Read the complete review
