Advantages: low prices, fast delivery, wide range of stock
Disadvantages: item charge added to basic delivery costs
This is one of the sites I use for purchasing cosmetics. I've discovered it is now on quidco too so I can get some cashback as well as the discounts they offer themselves.
Direct Cosmetics stock cosmetics, skincare, haircare, a few accessories, perfume, tanning products and cover many brands such as Elizabeth Arden, Gale Hayman, Adrien Arpel, Agent Provocateur, Aramis, Benetton, Bourjois, Christian Dior, Clinique, Clarins and well you get my drift! I won't bore you with all the brands they stock but they seem to have them all.
The products are not always the very latest items but usually there's a good range of popular items. I tend to buy Elizabeth Arden items from them as they are quite cheap for some.
Their prices are competitive, I think just recently they've increased some of their prices and although lower than some sites, seem to now be more in line with many of the other discounted cosmetics sites, like most places it depends what you purchase.
I recently bought some perfume (review on the way for that too!) and some Eight Hour Cream as they were the cheapest for these items. I got 2 x 30ml of the Eight Hour Cream at £2.99 each and the perfume was unboxed so I got 30ml for £2.99. This is another advantage, some items are available as testers so come without boxes and cost less than normal which is great if you're buying for yourself.
The delivery is fast, I usually receive items within 3 days so you don't have to wait long but the delivery charge is my one gripe.
Direct Cosmetics charge a base rate for delivery of £1.70 but then they sneakily add an amount on top of that for each item, they say the maximum you pay is £3.95 and for my last order of 3 small items I paid £3.05 which is not anything like the amount it cost them to send the goods. Unlike other companies they do not reward you with free delivery for larger orders and this item charge is only apparent once you're almost at the payment stage so it's a very sneaky tactic.
Overall they do offer some good discounts, have a wide range of products and deliver quickly but watch out for the item charge or you can negate your discounts on some items.
Summary: Recommended as long as you keepany eye on delivery costs
