Advantages: easy to use, competitive prices, quick delivery
Disadvantages: Need a computer.
I have only recently started using the internet for purchasing things, up until now I have only really used it for window shopping. While flicking through the various sites I came across this one and the credit card would just not stay in my wallet. Having a bit of an eye for a bargain I couldn't believe there were popular titles at £9.99. I bought four DVD's using the easy buy option. This allows you to add things to your basket and use the account details you have set up. Once chosen you have an hour before the order is placed to change your mind, or you can force it through immediately. When the order has been accepted an email will arrive in your account to tell you the situation. Those usual words of "Delivered in 2-3 working days" appear to the usual sniggers. That is until the postman is knocking on the door at 7.00 in the morning with a parcel three days after the order, with me trying to get out the shower, escape the shower curtain that wasn't letting me go before he left (oh yes grabbing a towel on the way. Unfortunately one of the items was out of stock, but still appeared (slightly later in the day) two days after the first delivery. I guess the important thing here is how much does this cost???? Bugger all, zip, nothing, free anywhere in the UK (get the drift). The price on the screen is what you pay, although if you are after special delivery option it will cost more, but with this sort of service why use it. The DVD's are well packed although there is no fancy boxes just useful brown cardboard. The tracking facility allows you to see the status of your order at any time and review its progress. There are regular special offers on the site and the new releases are competitive in price. The web sites itself has a lot of graphics on it showing the front of the cases which may slow link times down, but is easy to navigate with a brief description of the title an
d movie. A search facility allows you to search on title, actor/actress or both which is great when you are looking for the specifics or have a favourite star. The site is linked to a couple of others, one that deals solely with videos and another that deals with books, so if you cannot find what you are after on DVD there are other options. Well I am now going to head back down the street to see what the offers are today, maybe see you in the "Rovers Return".

- 03/04/01 The Mask and Batman Forever. The other ones had £0.50 or £2.50 off which were Lost in Space and Galaxy Quest. There seems to be a general saving on most items. Hope you enjoy the shopping. |
