I`ve not had too many bad experiences shopping online, but e-machine have certainly soured my views a little. i bought a fax machine from them online, it arrived, worked for a few weeks then stopped.
fine so far, rang e-machines, told to return the fax for repair or replacement. after a couple of `chasing` `phone calls, we were told the fax was beyond repair and a replacement would be sent. a week later a shabby box arrived.
now here`s were the fun starts, upon opening the box we found a totally different model to that ordered, and it was second hand, dirty, the innards covered in fluff, worn keys etc. we rang e-machine, and asked why a second hand , obviously well used model had been sent, and to add insult to injury, this one didn`t work either!.after a `heated` conversation they agreed to a refund if we returned the fax to them, by now the postage costs were starting to mount, we asked how could we be sure that a refund would follow to be told "because i ******* well have too don`t i!". upon reflection, this should have set alarm bells ringing.needless to say no refund came, and upon contacting e-machine to ask why we were told that "we don`t give refunds, if you want your machine , it`s on my desk, come and get `cos i aint posting it to you`
at this point trading standards became involved and after two visits to the company premises, have informed me that there is nothing they can do, if i want to take the matter further then the courts are my only option, the fax only cost £70.caveat emptor!
