You generally know what you're getting with ELC toys (Early Learning Centre)

Advantages: Generally well-priced and fun for children

Disadvantages: None that I can think of

One of the main reasons I like the Early Learning Centre is that there are always toys out in the shops that children can actually play with, while you are browsing. So many other toy shops don't do this, and it's such a simple idea. If I go into other toy shops with my son, he tries to take toys off the shelves and I seem to be forever saying, 'put that back', etc. However, in the ELC, I can browse happily, while my son plays with cars in the garage or whatever toys they have out. It makes such a difference to how I feel about going there.

Also, I like the toys. They are generally well-priced and, on the whole, they have longevity and well-liked by kids. I find many other popular brands contain alot of gimics and sometimes place too much emphasis on being educational. It's not that I've got a problem with toys being educational and encouraging development of skills, but I kind of feel this kind of learning and development should be integral to the toy, (where the main emphasis is one of 'fun' for the child). I feel that ELC toys generally get the balance right. Other brands often make toys that don't end up feeling like toys as they are too busy trying to 'teach' a child something.
