Advantages: Excellent value for money, Service was spot on, smooth transaction

Disadvantages: Delivery guy didn't install the machine for me (but did carry it into the kitchen)

I used empiredirect.co.uk to purchase a new washing machine after finding them through pricerunner.co.uk (the price comparison site).

I wanted a specific model of washing machine so naturally searched for it. I found it instantly. Every product had a very thorough description along with a decent photo.

After browsing through others (even though I hadn't intend on doing as I knew what I wanted), I selected what I wanted then went on to order.

I was impressed by their level of service. You could order online, or by phone, faxback and snail mail. Every surcharge (like delivery) was clearly marked, so there were no nasty surprises after you had sent your credti card details to them.

As I have only ordered a washing machine from them, I cannot comment on any other products, but the delivery charge for my order was £30. I though that was a bit on the high side, however the actual cost of the product was a great deal lower than any where else (almost £100 less than argos).

After ordering, I received an email confirming that my order had been received, and it wasn't just an auto respsonse either! I then received a telephone call the next day to arrange delivery, etc.

It was delivered 1 week later, by the manufacturer (thats why they are so cheap I would think). However, they wouldn't install it or take my old one away. I am told this is quite a standard practice these days, so I didn't mind too much. I managed to find someone locally who bought my old one from me for £10! and setting up the new machine is very straight forward.

I have had no problems after the sale, nor have I received nuisance calls trying to sell me anything else. They didn't even try to sell me their mail order catalogue, so I am impressed with that!

All in all an excellent service and would highly recommend that you give Empire Direct a look in if you're looking for home appliances or hifi equipment.
