Advantages: um... No. Sorry. None.
Disadvantages: Poor (no?) admin/customer service, hopeless web sites, lack of conscience
eTSP, fsf, bca, etc... I can't stress this enough - stay far, far away from these people! I first signed up for one of their '5 cheap books' offers about 2 years ago, through eTSP. Half the books weren't delivered, and I was told that they were out of stock due to excessive demand. Amazon would have tried to get them anyway, this lot just sent me some gift vouchers, which were rejected when I tried to claim them! I ordered a couple more books from their catalogue over the next three months - which was a huge mistake. Aparently, even though the books were listed in the eTSP catalogue, they were from various other Guild House/BCA book clubs... and they signed me up for them automatically! I then received various 'joining packages' which I hadn't asked for. I sent them back, only to be told that they hadn't received them, and that I had to prove that I'd sent them back! After about 3 months of arguments, I finally got them to back down regarding the payment for the items. However, I couldn't get them to cancel the membership in the other clubs, which I hadn't asked for! At this point in time, I am a member of 4 of their clubs, and, as I stupidly asked for one book to be addressed to my wife as a present, she's been given membership too! So, from ordering a total of 10 books, I am now liable for another 20 books, from clubs that I didn't join! They will not cancel membership unless I 'meet my commitments' (which I didn't make anyway!), and I have to spend time on their websites every few weeks cancelling their editors choices! The worst is the SciFi club - you can't cancel online! They're also very good at adding items to my account that I haven't ordered, and that haven't been delivered, and then threatening me if I don't pay for them! They also insist on using couriers to deliver their parcels, so, if one is acce
pted erroneously (such as by a well meaning neighbour), I have to pay to send it back! Nearly every legitimate order I've placed through them has been messed up, and don't get me started on their web sites! You have to have one log in per site, you can't use the same user name, and you can't link your accounts together. Log in, log out, log in... If you value your sanity, DO NOT join ANY of their book clubs! These people will haunt you till the day you die!

- 13/07/02 I have gone against all the others and rated your op as Very Useful. In fact I would rate an op with the following title as VU if it were on this company.
"S tay well clear".
The ir service is terrible. The books arent much better and their advertising is incredibly misleading. It's a fair cop to stay clear of this company. |

- 12/07/02 Agree with davidbuttery, the offline TSP have been very good, no complaints. Obviously there is just a problem with the online version. Shame. |

- 11/07/02 Hello :)
I can only assume that the eTSP people are run by a different lot from the "offline" TSP, with which I've had no trouble over some years, and am very happy with. |
