Advantages: Cheap products, Good range (in theory)
Disadvantages: Terrible Service, Poor Stock Levels, Bad Attitude
My original review of Expansys criticised the fact that the stock position reported by their website was inaccurate and included my opinion that they cared less about customer satisfaction than I thought appropriate. Anyway, here are the facts of my transaction: 21-01-03 Order placed for 2 items. Stock indication: delivery to customer 3-4 working days. 28-01-03 Telephoned to enquire of status (no online update). Informed that delivery would take another few days and that they didn't have time to update their website with order status or stock position. 4-2-3 Telephoned to enquire. Given same story as before. Expressed dissatisfaction and told that this was the best they could do. 13-2-3 Goods shipped. 19-2-3 I returned goods, since I'd subsequently sourced goods elsewhere. 24-2-3 Despite order being sent special delivery, Expansys inform me that they are still logging returns received previous to my return and that they will mail me "when we come to it." 19-3-3 Expansys acknowledge receipt of my returned goods despatched a month previously and undertake to refund payment (less postage). You can make your own mind up as to whether or not you would want to deal with these people. Their prices are certainly cheap. But I run an e-commerce website myself and I wouldn't be proud if my company treated customers the way Expansys do. On the basis that very few dissatisfied customers actually make noise, these guys will probably get away with it and make a profit. But hopefully people who do their research into an online supplier will know better. I stand by my earlier assertion that this company are cowboys, since I believe their tradi ng behaviour, customer care and subsequent bullying are representative of the type of behaviour that would be deplored in the real world. If these folks weren't hiding behind an online facade, Trading Standards would be giving them a tough time.
