Advantages: Cheap make-up, some of it is ok, nice website
Disadvantages: Some of it is rubbish, high postage costs
I actually first heard about Eyes Lips Face from dooyoo! It is one of the many websites that I have visited after reading reviews on this site, but it is probably the first that I have actually purchased something from!
Eyes Lips Face, or e.l.f., is a company that originated in America in 2004 and swiftly became popular, mostly I think because they sold all their products for $1! In 2007 the UK branch of e.l.f. came into being, selling most of their products for a slightly more expensive £1.50 from their online site. Aside from mineral make-up and certain kits, gift sets and bags, everything on the website sells for this same price, which is definitely enticing to buyers.
The website is nicely laid out. It has sections for eyes, lips, face, nails, make-up brushes, kits and gifts, tools, elements, cases and mineral make-up. Each section has a drop down list which enable you to choose a product to go to directly, or you can browse each section. Each product has an individual page with a picture, a description, a list of ingredients and a selection of colour swatches to show the different shades it is available in.
There are also areas of the site where you can read the beauty blog, or look at beauty secrets and tips. Most of these are used to promote e.l.f. products which I suppose is not surprising! E.l.f also has a facebook fan page which you can join if you are a facebook member.
The site offers free delivery on its products if you spend £30. However that is quite a high minimum spend and if you don't reach that, then standard delivery is a very expensive £2.95. If you are just buying one product that means you are paying £4.45 for it, which is very high! Occasionally e.l.f. send out free delivery codes but even these usually require you to spend £5, and they are quite rare.
I have bought two different products from e.l.f. and the quality has varied quite a bit. I tried their clear lash and brow gel, which was quite successful in keeping my brows tamed and my mascara in place, though it did seem to go off and start smelling quickly. However I also tried their lip liner and was not impressed at all as it was very drying, and although the colour was lovely at first, it quickly went bitty and seemed to disintegrate on my lips which left them looking horrible!
I am not sure whether I like this site or not. The quality seems variable and if you are only paying £1.50 then that's not too bad, but if you are paying for delivery too then it is quite a waste of money when the product turns out to be rubbish!
Summary: Some good and bad bits!

- 17/06/09 A while ago I was considering clubbing together with some friends and getting a big order so that we could spend over £30 and avoid the delivery charges, but we never bothered in the end. I may give it a go one day though, as I wouldn't be overly bothered about getting the odd dudd product since they're so cheap. |

- 15/06/09 Paying £1.50's all very well and good but the money you saved is wiped out by the delivery charges? |
