Well folks I hate to remind you but, its 12 weeks until Christmas <ducks behind the desk as various things are thrown>. Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings and all, but its true, the silly season is almost upon us. I must admit I have done the majority of my Christmas shopping but have been having difficulty with what to buy a few of the relatives. It is the same problem every Christmas and birthday, not knowing what on earth to buy for the people that have everything. For those people in a similar position or if you just want to check out some stylish inexpensive gifts go to www.find-me-a-gift.co.uk This site itself is very quick to load and is well designed and laid out. The colours, although not my choice are pretty easy on the eye and not garish plus the text is easy to read. The thumbnails of the gifts are easy to see and when you click on the ‘more info’ button a new page opens with all the detail of the gift, a larger picture, price and ordering capability. Home page – contains all the necessary links to take you easily around the site, plus the advantages of shopping with www.find-me-a-gift.co.uk. There are also some of the top selling gifts of the moment displayed together with a series of ‘customer comments’ about the site, content and shopping. Registration – to shop from the site you will need to register, this is of course free to do. Registration takes place over the expected secure connection and you will have to give you name, address, date of birth, phone number and email address. You also have the option of subscribing to their monthly newsletter, which brings details of their latest offers. Once you have registered you have the option of adding other home addresses, perfect for having your gifts delivered, this can be left until you wish to send a gift and you are able to add as many addresses as you wish. You also have to choose a username and password so you can acc
ess the site. The whole registration process takes about 5 minutes; you are then ready to shop!! Your Account – as it suggests really, you can check out the status of your orders, whether waiting for stock or whether it has been shipped to you. There is a handy message pad on this page basically an onsite email facility, should you need to contact their customer service department, or just send feedback to the site. Not only this but also you can set up handy reminders of forthcoming anniversaries, birthdays or other special occasions. They email you 7 days in advance of the event to remind you – handy for all you forgetful folk out there (men in particular take note!) Show basket – this option can be taken at anytime during your ‘shop’ to check how much you have spent and how many items you have ordered. Checkout – no prizes for guessing what this link will show you! Wish lists – This can only be accessed by registered users, you can add items you would like for yourself, or to remind you of items you have seen for future gifts. You can also use it as a ‘wedding’ service and send to family and friends to let them know what you want. Once an item has been purchased a new list is then sent to list members to let them know what has been bought. Of course you as the list owner don’t know who has bought what, adding to the element of surprise come birthday or Christmas! The above options are always available on the top of the page; no matter whereabouts on the site you happen to be, making for very easy navigation. On the left hand side of the page are the various ‘departments’ for gifts: * GIFTS 4 MEN – This department is split into four sections, ‘GADGETS’ we all know that men love theses and there are plenty of things to choose from. A fabulous indoor remote control helicopter will set you back £250,
don’t be shocked at the price, the majority of gifts are very reasonable priced indeed chiming stress balls will set you back £8.99 or a key ring map measurer will cost you £16.50. GROOMING a small range of men’s toiletries with some nice gift sets, I did find these rather on the expensive side for what they were, 3 tubes of facial cleanser, toner and moisturiser will cost you £44.00! The OFFICE section contains items for the more serious side of our men, aluminium business card holders £4.95, a little black book (!) £4.95 or a brass monogram seal for £5.00. The personal section contains some of the above items, but some quite fun gifts too; a miniature fondue kit is £4.99, tiddly tennis £9.95 or a mini sushi kit £4.99. There really is something for every pocket and every person. *GIFTS FOR WOMEN – Again this section is split into four section, ‘CIRLY STUFF’ heart shaped hotwater bottles, fuchsia pink address books and cuddly bears can be found here. Prices range from £2.95 to £14.99 so again something for every pocket – even pocket money presents from the children. ‘PERSONAL’ contains gifts of that nature; from perfume atomisers to aluminium cigarette cases you will find something to catch your imagination. The third section is misleadingly named ‘HOME’ you can buy double chocolate flavoured coffee, a miniature of Jane Austens home, or some lovely stylish looking foam bath items. The last section in the gifts 4 women is ‘HEALTH AND BEAUTY’ where some lovely looking gifts can be found, although men beware of buying your lady love ‘bust firming cream’!! It did make me wonder, why anyone would want to buy a pair of latex gloves as a gift, but there you have it, something for everyone!! * GIFTS 4 CHILDREN – split into 3 sections ‘4 BOYS’ a dinosaur hunters kit, tiddly tennis or football or skittles, a far cry from computer games and guns! ‘4 G
IRLS’ princess dress up kits and cuddly toys, rather unimaginative, but fun nevertheless. ‘4 BABIES’ a lovely selection of keepsake type gifts for babies, ideal for christenings and the like. * SEASONAL GIFTS – This is split into the seasonal celebrations spring – valentines, mothers day, summer – fathers day, autumn – Halloween and winter – Christmas, decorations and new year. * WEDDING SUPPLIES – Everything the bride and groom to be can wish for from stationary to assessories to wedding favours. You can also download hints tip and ideas, plus templates to create your own wedding stationary. * CORPORATE GIFTS – to make your business really stand out, have your company logo engraved on any one of the stylish products, card holders, glasses cases, address books, tooth pick holder, cigarette cases and so on. Beats the old plastic pens some companies give away! * VOUCHERS AND CARDS – These can be sent by email or post so the recipient can choose their own gifts. The vouchers are delivered the next day, so perfect if you forget someone’s birthday, although with the sites reminder service, this should be a thing of the past. * PERSONAL SHOPPER – Fill in this form with the person you are shopping for details, questions such as their gender, age, what occasion the gift is for, whether they smoke or drink, favourite colour and how much you want to spend. After the information is entered, wait a few seconds and they will match up your details to suggested gifts. This is a great way of looking at some different products, something you may have overlooked, or felt wasn’t appropriate for the person in question. You also receive an email with the suggested gift details on to keep as a reminder. * YOUR COMMENTS – as the name suggests, send any comments to the site team and read comments from other site members. * FREE LOYAL
TY POINTS – Answer the simple questionnaire and get 5000 loyalty points, this is only on offer when you register. As you shop with find-me-a-gift, for every 1p you spend you will receive one loyalty point, 1000 points gives you a 1% discount on your order. As well as being able to search by category on the site, there is a handy search facility located on each and every page. Type in your keyword, which section to search and you’re budget and away you go. I have yet to come up with ‘no results found’. This is a quick way of finding something you know is on the site, but I personally find it easier and more fun to search through each category. * PAYMENT METHODS – there is a good variety of options on how to pay on this site, something that is quite unusual, you can either use Safedoor or Paypal or VISA, MasterCard, switch, electron or solo. The payment is not taken from your account until your order has been dispatched. * DELIVERY – Mainland UK standard delivery is FREE, delivery is 3 working days after your order has been placed. I placed an order on the Monday and received it on the Wednesday; I have never received an order over the 3 day period. You can opt for next day delivery, but the order must be place BEFORE 2pm GMT on a working day. There is a charge of £3.95 for next day delivery. For off shore UK Islands (Guernsey, Jersey, the Shetlands, Orkneys, Isle of Man and Northern Ireland) delivery is charged by weight for postage and packaging. You receive an email as soon as your order is dispatched; to let you know it is on its way. * RETURNING GOODS – If you don’t like what you have purchased, return it to them! They claim they are more than happy to refund your money, as long as the product is returned in original packaging. I have not yet had to do this, as I have been more than happy with the quality of the gifts I have bought. All they ask is you return the go
ods within 28days and get proof of posting receipt. The returns policy does exclude health supplements and skincare items. All in all the site is very easy to use, easy to register with and easy to shop from, a little too easy! The facilities offered are excellent; reminder service, wishlist, wedding service and the gifts are good quality. Most definitely a site I will return to again and again.
