If your garage is full of bits and pieces and you're determined to turn them back into a classic car (or in my case not so classic but of high sentimental value), sooner or later you will start searching for nuts, bolts, tools, paint, rust remover, more tools... you get the idea!
Certain things you will get from the nearest DIY shop and others you'll find of ebay, but for tools and consumables related specifically with car restoration, www.frost.co.uk is one of the best addresses you can find.
They are, as most shops catering for specialist needs, not the cheapest, but I found them very reasonable, and you will find that they do have things that you won't find anywhere else. Or maybe you do, but then it's maybe spray paint from America, and you won't get it shipped over to the UK. Like the range of Eastwood products, which are excellent stuff for painting chassis and engine.
In other cases, as it happens quite often on the internet, you might find polishing material on one website and special oil for vintage engines in another. Frost does cater for the whole range, from leather care to gasket material, metal shaping tools, air tools and even some serious workshop machinery!
Finding what you want could be a little bit easier, as sometimes you have to navigate through various menus, but it's far from complicated. Checkout and payment are done in a snap and delivery is swift and reasonable. Once I made a mistake while checking out (no online shop is totally safe from silly browser-back-button accidents), but the next day I received a call from Frost and the matter was fixed.
My car restoration will go on for a little while still, and I'm sure I'll be buying from Frost a few more things before I finish. They do have the things I need and they are as good as an online shop can be. On top of that, there's always the option to receive their catalogue and order by email, phone or fax. Frost reaaly does help me making progress!
