Hopelessly looking around the web for Christmas gifts for my girlfriend I came across this site, gettingpersonal.co.uk. I was impressed with the unique gifts on offer, and the vast range of different items to choose from. In the end I decided to buy four items- two calenders (one with a 'luxury' gift box with added £3 to the total), a whisky glass, and a Genie head massager.
To be fair, the delivery was quick. I ordered on the Saturday, and they arrived the following Wednesday. However I could tell as soon as the postman handed over the package that something wasn't right. He gave me a box, with a strange shaped package wrapped around it with vast amounts of sellotape. As soon as I unwrapped the package I realised that this was my head massager, which had been crushed in transit due to not being properly packaged. The platic packaging was ruined with various cracks and holes with the lid missing, and a few of the 'balls' on top of the massager were also missing. So I can't give this as a Christmas present to anyone!
Problem number two was the whisky glass. Although a nice tumbler which had good engraving, sadly there was a crack on the back of the glass, around 2cm long. Considering I paid £19.99 for this I was very disappointed. Again, I cannot give this to my grandma as a Christmas gift. I have contacted customer support on numerous occasions but as of yet haven't heard anything back. I notice from previous reviews of this site that this is a common problem.
My final problem with my order was the 'luxury' gift box which I added to my order for £3. Now to be honest I'm not sure if I've even received this or not. The whisky tumbler was in a black box, but can hardly be considered luxury or worth £3. I take it that this is the normal packaging for the glass, therefore I presume that I haven't had my gift box. There was definately nothing else in the box which would match the description.
My only plus points really from my order were the calenders, which were neatly printed and as described, and the quick delivery. Everything else, including customer service, was appalling. I would strongly advise anyone reading this to avoid this website like the plague, and use one of the various other similar sites online, which I've never had a problem with.
I bought a personalised heart trinket box online on 30th December 2012 and still not received this. Delivery was meant to be within 2-3 working days.Having rang them today they said that my box was send out first class by Royal Mail last Thursday. Which means I should have received it by Saturday latest. I have to wait 10 working days till they can query this with Royal Mail. I said well do you have proof of delivery that you posted and they said no!!!So wondering how they going to query with Royal Mail.I am truly gutted cause it was a present that I wanted to give to newborn baby and the delay of not knowing is so frustrating. To wait 10 days isn't acceptable till something gets done!!!Not very trustworthy website and certainly doesn't live up to their promising 2-3 working day delivery!
It was my sister-in-law-to be's 30th birthday earlier this month, and as she had recently moved down south my fiancé and I were trying to think of a good present which wasn't too tricky or delicate to post that wouldn't cost the earth (his family aren't big on going overboard with presents) but that she would really appreciate. That's where I come in as my 'role' as the woman in the relationship apparently means that I automatically know what to get everyone for presents, even if they're not from my side of the family....
I remembered having a conversation with her a little while ago and she said she would love to have a portrait session with her, her husband, and their daughter. Bearing in mind she is about to give birth to their second child, I thought this would be a nice gift to capture a photo of the family all together, while the baby was still young. I did a bit of shopping round but found a lot of the portrait gift experiences were either too expensive, the studios were not close enough to where they live, or they had to be used within a strict time limit (some of them expired within two months so I didn't think she'd appreciate having to do it so soon after giving birth!).
My google search directed me to gettingpersonal.co.uk, which has lots of good gift ideas that are a bit different and can be personalised. They had a family portrait gift experience for £39.99, which could be personalised with your message then sent directly to the recipient. The details of the studios was a bit vague, it just stated they were 'nationwide'. I emailed them to find out which ones were in the vicinity of my sister-in-law-to-be (to be referred to as SIL2B from now on!), and the following day they replied and gave me about three which were closest to her postcode. This seemed fine so I went on to buy the gift experience, adding our birthday message and keeping my fingers crossed it arrived on time.
Delivery was free (as we'd spent over the threshold) and it claimed to despatch within 24 hours. This was good news because as usual, despite several reminders to my other half, the gift hunting had been left till last minute and delegated to me, so I only ordered it the weekend before her birthday. Not being sure if they dispatched at the weekend I was fully expecting the gift to arrive late, but on her birthday (the Tuesday) we had a text from SIL2B saying she'd received her gift and she loved it. Cue lots of brownie points for me from my other half "You're so good at choosing presents for people" he creeped, "I should be, I've had enough practise" was my not at all sarcastic response!
The portrait experience was excellent value compared to others I'd seen. It included 20 minutes of photography using props etc, and also one print. I suspect when they redeem this gift they'll be cursing us as they'll probably end up spending a fortune on more prints, but it's the thought that counts! It's valid for up to 9 months which is ideal because she's due to give birth this month so she can have a bit of recovery time before posing in front of the camera.
The website itself isn't the best laid out to use to be honest, I find it quite crowded and 'busy'. It categorises gifts into occasions (birthday, weddings, etc), recipient (him, her, family members), personalised gifts (calendars, mugs etc), other gifts (bit vague), Christmas gifts (sub-categorised into person or budget) and they also do personalised cards. Once you find your way round it gets a lot easier but at first there just seems to be pictures and writing everywhere. Gifts start from as little as £3, but obviously can get quite high in certain categories such as jewellery. There is something to suit all budgets though and even the cheap things don't look tacky as they have a personal touch.
There are some gorgeous unique gifts on here, and I've already got my eye on a couple of things for my wedding next year to say thank you to my bridesmaid and mum. This website is a very good place to start searching for a special gift that doesn't cost the earth. The prices are very reasonable so you can get a wow-factor gift without going over your budget.
Each gift you click on has it's own reviews (like on amazon) from people who've bought it. This is useful although anyone in the know would of course try dooyoo first! There are also articles giving advice on good ideas on gifts for particular occasions, which can be helpful if you've no idea what you want and nothing on the site catches your eye.
Delivery is free if you spend over £30, but otherwise it'll only cost £2.99 which doesn't add too much onto the cost of your item. In my experience they are very speedy with delivery, and reading through the reviews on their website I think this is the case generally.
Overall, this is an excellent website and is one I will be visiting more often in future when I am looking for gifts.
Christmas again..no idea what to buy my husband. I went online and came across this amazing site.
They had loads of great gift ideas which were personalised with the name of your choice, I found myself looking at calendars they had all kinds to choose from.
As my husband has always wanted his own Ferrari I plumbed for the calendar with gorgeous posh and expensive cars with my husbands own reg on the plates. The twelve months each displayed an expensive car, gorgeous colours and as I explained a personal reg.
I was so impressed when it arrived I went online again and ordered two more for each of my daughters, both of these were very impressive, yet again gorgeous colour, this time they had a girly theme my daughters names on the calenders were on all twelve of the pages.
There was one with the picture of a theatre front and my daughters names were up there in lights, they looked great
It looked like they were starring in the show.
There was a hollywood walk of fame with their names on, a private jet aeroplane which said my daughters name as the airline company, there was also a mansion with the entrance bearing their names.
There were some lovely themes for the months, I was very impressed, I will buy more for next year, and this time I will purchase for my grandaughters and grandsons as well as my husband and son.
A brilliant idea for a present comes highly recommended.
Before Christmas I ordered a personalised calendar for a friend of mine. I have used this site previously and never had any issues. This time however was very different. I was told my item would be shipped within 24hours. A few days after I ordered from them I still hadn't received an email saying it had been dispatched and so I emailed them asking where it was. The emails in reply were shockingly rude and blunt. I was told they decided that they weren't going to send me my item becuase I live in Ireland-I never had this problem before-unless I pay an extra charge. I emailed them letting them know this was fine, although I was a little annoyed they hadn't said that from the start and had waited for me to ask them. Then, two weeks after Christmas, I was checking my online bank account and saw they had recredited me for the calendar without a word. When I emailed to ask why this was they had no reason for it. They said they thought I wanted to cancel the order, which makes no sense because I sent them an email (which I still have) clearing saying i did want to go ahead with it. Again the Customer "Care" Team replied as rude and as uncaring as ever saying that was too bad and I would have to go and reorder the whole thing. Which I of course did not. I don't know what has happened to this company but they have become discourteous and rather cheeky in the way they treat their customers. Almost as if they started to do good business and so have given up caring about the people who are giving it to them. There is no denying they have unique products but that does not give them the right to treat their customers with such little respect and insolence. I would never recommend this site to anyone.
Gettingpersonal.co.uk is an internet company that specialises in personalised gifts and unique presents. I started using this website a few years ago after it was recommended to me by a close friend and I have been using it ever since.
The website itself is very easy to use. The gifts are sorted into categories such as Birthdays, occasions, personalised gifts, themed gifts, unusual gifts and many more. Each category has sub-categories to make it easier to find the gift you are looking for. Birthdays once selected for example, allows you to then search for particular people, ages, particular types of gifts and also significant birthday's e.g. 30th. The website also includes categories that can sometimes be more difficult to buy gifts or cards for such as graduations and retirements. There are also seasonal sections that can be accessed all year round in case you want to buy a gift well ahead of the actual holiday. You can also search for gifts by the type of person you are buying a gift for. This includes every type of person you could think of. The search options are very good.
You can find all manner of personal gifts on this website ranging from engraved gifts to personalised cards/ magazine covers/ prints/ chocolate/ mugs.... There are many novelty and funny gifts that are reasonably priced and would be ideal for teenage boys and young men. There are also some really extravagant gifts such as gift experiences, weekend city breaks, driving experiences, adventure experiences, flying lessons and theatre tickets to name but a few. I think that this website has something for everyone. I do sometimes think that some of the gifts are slightly overpriced and I always make a point of checking the reviews on a product that I am interested in before I buy it. Not all products have been reviewed but luckily most of the gifts I have bought did have reviews which I found very useful.
As I have mentioned, I have bought gifts from this website several times and also received gifts from this website. I have always been pleased with the products I have purchased. I have bought a lot of the personalised calendars for my boyfriend at one time or another. It is very easy to personalise the calendars and takes hardly any time. Once you have selected the type of calendar, you simply insert the person's name which is then previewed onto the themed pictures which in my experience have been highly suitable - I have previously bought the His and Hers, birthday, rugby, world wonders and anniversary calendars. You can select from 3 different sizes but I always opt for the A4 wall hanging calendars. The front cover of each calendar includes your chosen name and includes a personal greeting message of up to 150 characters. The colours of the images are high-quality and crisp and the calendars always arrive with an envelope. I would recommend the personalised calendars as they are a lovely and personal gift to give somebody all year round.
I have always found that everything I have ordered from gettingpersonal.co.uk has arrived quickly and in excellent condition. I have also found that the gifts I have received that have been bought from this website have also been in great condition. I have received a very cute dinky glass photo frame that came in a nice box, many personalised calendars and an engraved gift box with a heart necklace and earrings. This was a lovely present as the personalised message on the gift box was lovely and is something I will always treasure - the jewellery is also very nice!! There is only one gift that has been bought for me that I thought was a bit cheap looking. This was a personalised Valentine's mug that had my name and a picture of a teddy on the front and a personalised message on the back. The only reason I thought the mug looked cheap was the images were quite faint and I didn't like the font used but I am probably being a bit fussy.
As a frequent user of this website, I regularly get sent discount codes sent both via post and email. I am also regularly emailed about new products and offers which I find very useful. Overall, I would recommend this website.
My partner had seen a personalised football book he quite liked in a magazine however by the time I got around to thinking about getting one for his birthday I had left it too late to order through the post so I searched online and the Getting Personal website popped up in my searches as having just the book I needed!
After looking through the site and the vast amount of gifts they sell and read some reviews from previous customers, I decided to order from them. They specialise in personalised gifts - anything from personalised cards for different occasions, to personalised gifts such as chocolate, books, calendars, glasses - you name it they sell it and can personalise it with a message for your loved one.
The site is arranged so you can select weddings, Christmas, birthdays and then the age for example, and it will show all gifts under that theme making it easier to see the gifts and also to make your choice.
Luckily I knew what I was looking for because I think I could have easily spent ages looking through all the gifts, as there really is that many to choose from!
I quickly placed my order and made payment and promptly received a confirmation email of my purchase stating the items and quantity ordered, prices and delivery address. I was really impressed with how quickly this came through and how professional they seemed, especially as this was the first time I had used them.
The site stated standard delivery would be around 3-5 days but to my surprise the book arrived within 2 days. The book looked fantastic and the personalised message was great, I really was thrilled with the gift and the speed of service from Getting Personal.
I was really impressed with the range of gifts on this site but most of all the prices and the quality of the items, as well as the speed of delivery. I definitely would recommend Getting Personal if you are looking for an unusual and special gift different to what you could get on the high street.
This is the worst service I have ever recieved for from a website. I ordered a personalised gift for my sister's 18th birthday which she would have loved if I have recieved it. Every other site I use take the money from my account once I have recieved the order but this one took it straight away yet have not replied to any of my four emails to enquire about when it will be delivered, even though they claim to reply to every email within 24 hours but probably sooner! Also the site claimed that the gift I chose would be despatched within 24 hours, I am really angry about the whole thing and will never use this site again.
A friend of mine is always going on about how great Gettingpersonal.co.uk is. Recently I have been ill with flu and so wasn't feeling like traipsing round the shops looking for a Valentine's card and present for my boyfriend so I decided to give them a whirl.
I found the website easy enough to navigate. There are a number of categories to help narrow down what you are looking for. This website caters for every occasion you can think of from special birthdays, anniversaries and of course the seasonal gifts. I browsed through the Valentines gifts and decided to opt for a personalised Purple Ronnie mug. This website also offers personalised cards. The range is nowhere near as extensive or sophisticated as website's such as moonpig but still they offer an adequate selection. The cost of the mug was £15 which I think is quite expensive but as I was on a short time frame I still decided to proceed and the card cost £2.95. One thing I do like about this website is that you don't have to register, you simply put in your details and place your order.
You have the choice of two delivery options. For orders over £30 postage is free or for orders under £30 it is £2.95. Or you can opt for "premium" delivery at a cost of £5.95 which I opted for. The website stated that orders would be dispatched within 72 hours which I thought was a long time frame but as it was a week until Valentine's day and I was paying for what was supposedly a premium delivery service I thought it would be okay. I received my confirmation e-mail to confirm my order but that was the only correspondence, unlike many websites they do not e-mail to confirm your order has been dispatched.
Valentine's day came and went but I was unable to give my boyfriend his card and present as they didn't arrive. On the Monday I received the card which arrived in a tatty envelope and no additional envelope for the card. I e-mailed there customer service and expressed my disappointment at the poor service and explained that I thought the £5.95 delivery charge was completely unjustified an that I had ordered the items together and so expected to receive them together. The response said to me they clearly weren't that bothered. I was informed that my mug had been dispatched on Monday 15th February so I still haven't received it and the reason I did not receive an additional envelope is that I didn't request one, but that they would issue one first class that same day. Call me stupid but I just presumed it was common sense that you require one to put the card in.
Maybe my expectations of this website were just too high, but I was definitely not prepared for the disappointment I have been left with by this website. Although this website does offer some great gifts it is one of many of the web that do and so in future I will not be returning to this website and will instead check out other ones. I have since discovered that the mug I chose is on another website for £8.99 so it is not like they offer value for money so I would not recommend it to anyone else. Customer service is what builds reputation and a strong customer base, however this company appear to have failed to grasp this.
This online store is absolutely fantastic and offers unique products many and in fact the majority of which can be personalised to your liking with many beautiful products perfect for gifts for all your family and freinds.
I first heard about this store from my cousin who had bought a beautiful book from it called for my mum. It was a blank writing book which had questions at the top of each page such as who was your best freind as a child, where did you go to school etc, and the mother had to fill it in to then give back to her child and hence then have it passed down the generations. A fill in yourself autobiography which was beautiful and I in turn bought one for my own mother.
They cover a multitude of gifts from themed, experience days, toys, gadgets, wedding ad selected gift ideas for him and her. So a great find for the male of the speices who find it incredibly difficult to choose.
The best thing about this site is the personalisation of gifts again I bought a bottle of champagne for my freinds wedding which had a label printed especially for her on it with their names and wedding date which was beautiful. Photos and text can be added to nearly everything and so a great gift finder to look through for the difficult to buy and also the elderly as to personalise even a calender puts a smile on their face.
Diaries, magaziens, mugs cards everything can have your adaptation put onto it to make it special and prices range dramatically so something to suit all.
Speaking of prices you can get smaller gifts starting from £3 right up to the hundreds of pounds with experience days such as flying and swimming with dolphins.
Delivery is cheap at only £2.95 however when you purchase items over the value of £30 delivery is then free which makes extra easy to use for occassions such as christmas where you could in fact get all of your present shopping from.
Buying from this site is safe and easy as it has been trusted by internet safety companies such as hitwise, thousands of customers have reviewed it as well as being featured on this morning and accepts all major credit and debit cards.
Delivery is quick usually within 2 working days and easy to purchase online.
All in all when you need a gift of any type and especially want to make it special visit this site and you will no doubt find something great.
I used getting personal to order some personalised Christmas Gifts. I found the website easy to use and access, with a good catalogue of gift ideas and a great looking home page with lots of choices and gift ideas including the most up to date offers and deals. The items I ordered were in the Christmas ideas section and I ordered two personalised baubels for the christmas tree. The choice ranges from around £8.99 to over £16 a baubel depending on the material you want it to be made out of. I opted for china baubels which were £12.95. You choose the design yo would like from a list, and then you can edit the text you would like to be displayed on the item and can choose to have anything you like on your item. The postage was free with a voucher code, and they usually offer a free postage promotion at times during the year.
Paying for the items was easy, and was just like any other online payment, you can pay by credit card securely over their website and the payment is authorised immediatly. Once the order was placed they made a guaruntee that the item would be with us by Chrsitmas, and I was getting concerned when it got to the day before Christmas eve, but the item turned up on Christmas eve and I can only put the delay down to the post office.
The items I recieved, were very well made, china baubels made of thick china, nice pictures and good clear text, with a glaze to cover and protect. Although the price is expensive, it is a good service and you can get loads of great personalised items which is good if you have lots of children who fight over things.
I would recommed giving it a go.
I stumbled upon gettingpersonal.co.uk by accident and in some ways I think it's an unusual domain name for a gift shop!
Since my first purchase over two years ago I've used the site around 35 times mainly because of the variety of gifts on offer and the excellent service customers receive.
********** The product and price ***********
The thing I love about this website is that it has all sorts of unusual, unique and personalised gift ideas. I often find the men in my family difficult to buy for and this site seems to some up trumps time and time again.
I recently bought my brother a personalised football book for his 21st birthday. It was put together by hand and featured news articles charting the past 50 years of Manchester United (his favourite team). He was absolutely made up with it and I doubt I would have been able to find such a good gift anywhere else.
I must admit that there are gifts on the site that I would never buy, because I don't think that the price tag justifies the item, but you can get some real finds on there. I bought my Mum a "dinky" glass photo frame from there for her birthday and somebody in her office (where she has the frame) called to ask me where I'd bought it from because it is so unusual.
The product range is vast and you should definitely check this site out if you're stuck for a gift idea.
************ The Site **************
At the top of the website you will see tabs that you can click on to take you to a particular gift section. These tabs will take you directly to 'anniversary gifts,' 'birthday gifts,' 'occasions,' 'experience days,' 'personalised gifts,' 'themed gifts' and 'unusual gifts.' However you can also search the website or just browse through the ranges on offer. I think that the website is quite easy to navigate and it's easy to pay for your purchase once you have selected your items.
********** Delivery ***********
You get free delivery if you spend over a certain amount (at the moment its £30 but that does fluctuate), however it's only £2.95 for postage if you do have to pay and I think that's very reasonable.
You are always informed when the gift is expected to arrive and in my experience everything has arrived either on time or before it was supposed to. All gifts are well packaged too.
********** Customer service *********
I have only had one instance where I've had to deal with the customer services department. When I first received my mum's "dinky" glass from (as mentioned above) it had a big scratch on it. I called up and explained that I was unhappy with the item and gettingpersonal shipped another one out that day (it was with me first thing the next morning). On top of that I was given a free return address, so it didn't cost me anything to return the original item. I was very impressed with the way this was handled and the way that the company has processed each and every order I have placed so efficiently.
My Dad is the most awkward person to buy for in terms of presents. He always says he doesn't want anything but you can't just not get anything. He never needs anything so it's always more of a chore than a joy when his birthday comes around to think of something new to give him that I haven't already done.
I stumbled across Getting Personal.co.uk after trawling all of the gift websites and finding they all contained pretty much the same variety of gifts. The reason I chose getting personal was because they were affiliated with topcashback and provided a decent price on the gift I eventually chose.
** The site **
When you first happen across Getting Personal.co.uk you are met with a massive clutter of images. I was a bit bewildered to start with as it seems the site is trying to show you every single gift they can do all on the home page.
After the initial shock, and realising despite all the graphics, the site was still very quick to load, I realised that the images were showing me all the different categories they offer.
It would seem you can buy anything from this site ranging from retro sweets, through to personalised gifts, hence the name of the site, following to party supplies.
** Products **
The site doesn't just offer personalised gifts, but personally I think they could focus a bit better on this range and make it stand out against all the other gifts you can buy as add ons to the personalised presents.
I couldn't list all the different products here as that would take too long, but the site is sectioned off into engraving, printing, anniversary, birthday, Christmas, Themed gifts, with many more. If you think of Hawkins Bazaar the toy shop up scaled to include all the gifts you can buy from a photo processing website, and to include all the items from a birthday shop that includes Moon pig the personalised cards, then you may be starting to get an idea of what this company can offer you.
I had a vague idea of what I was looking for thankfully, as otherwise I'm not sure I would have stuck around on this site for long unless I had hours to waste. This would be a shame as my experience was good and I could have missed it so easily.
** Ordering process **
Like many sites when you have chosen what you want to order, it's placed in your basket and you're taken through to the checkout.
You can choose to register your details or just place a one off order which is something I appreciate when ordering from a new site. It's unlikely that I will be a frequent visitor to a site unless the prices, choice and customer service are outstanding. It's good to know my details aren't stored on each and every website I order from.
When ordering personalised gifts, you are warned at every stage that you must check your details as mistakes cannot be rectified afterwards. It's so easy to put the wrong date in or make a spelling mistake and it could be an expensive mistake to make.
Delivery is free on orders over £30 or £2.95 for those under. I think this is average value and would have been quite happy to pay the delivery. I was lucky enough (depending on which way you look at it), that my order was over the free delivery mark so I didn't have to pay it anyway.
I found the ordering process very easy with not too many pages to trawl through entering my details. As with most sites all major cards are accepted.
** Delivery **
Depending on what items you order, you'll be advised on how long your delivery may take. Mine was a personalised item, and I was told five working days. I actually received my order after three days which was a very quick turnaround for delivery. I was a little disappointed that my order was just dropped by my door step one day. Thankfully I received it fine, but it could so easily have not been the case.
I was however happy with how my order was packaged. I ordered a personalised newspaper and it was placed in a presentation box which was then packaged in thick cardboard acting as an envelope / box.
My order was completely intact with no bashed corners or edges. This wouldn't have been the fault of the site if it was, but it would have been their fault if it hadn't been packaged correctly.
Overall in this area I was happy.
** Prices **
When I was looking at various gifts on the site, I noticed that some price were slightly higher. This was especially true when ordering glass wear. I have seen items cheaper on other gift sites, but for the newspapers the prices were reasonable which swayed me to ordering in the first place.
** Overall **
I was very happy with my whole experience from this site, and my Dad was thrilled to receive a present that was something different and very special for his birthday.
You can track your order once ordered through the site which is a good option to be able to use, but I wasn't overly impressed with the help section on the site, mainly in the fact that there isn't one. To get help you have to go through to the customer services form. It would be nice to have a simple FAQ section to help with general enquiries straight away.
I will go back there to look for something different for a Christmas present.
So I was getting a bit sick of buying socks and beer as presents for my dad and buying perfume and chocolates as presents for my mum. I frequently use www.moonpig.com to create personalised cards and so I decided it was time for some unique and personalised presents. But where to buy? I saw the Getting Personal website advertised on TV and decided to give it a try.
WHAT IS GETTING PERSONAL
Getting personal is an online shopping website offering unique and peronalised gifts in several different categories, including "themed gifts", "unusual gifts" and "experience days". There is endless choice of gifts avaliable from personalised champagne to a First Aid Emergency Chocolate Box and a flying pig!
MY EXPERIENCE WITH GETTING PERSONAL
Every purchase I have made from the website has arrived promptly and I have never had any problem with orders I have made from them. I have also been extremley happy with the quality of products I recieved and so my experience with Getting Personal has been extremley positive so far.
Below is a list of purchases I have made from the website in the past. This will give you an idea of the variety of products they sell:
I have brought some cream coloured "Cozy boots" for my mothers birthday last year. These are fluffy slippers with a lavender bag inside. They can be warmed up in the microwave to create heated slippers perfect for winter, with the added bonus being that they smell nice too.
For my grandma I purchased a "Pocket Garden" strawberry plant. The seed comes already planted in soil and to grow the plant you simply have to cut the top off the packaging and water the seed. My grandma loves plants and strawberrys so this seemed the perfect, unusual gift, especaily as it's so easy to look after since all she has to do is water it.
For my friend I purchased a "picture pocket" hanging wall decoration. At only £5.95, I thought this was a bargain and left me with plenty of money to order some photos to fill the picture pockets with. My friend was delighted with her unusual gift.
EASY TO USE?
Yes the website is very easy to use. Gifts are clearly split into categories and sub categories. I like the fact that if you click on a product there is lots of customer reviews and ratings to assist you in making a decision.
As you can see by the examples listed above, there is plenty of variety of gifts for all different ages for both men and women. This is what makes it such a good website. You'll find ideal gifts for just about anybody on here.
The prices are mostly reasonable with a lot of gifts under £10 and most of the pocket garden range are priced at only £5.95 each which I find very reasonable.
However, there are also quite a few high priced items. The retro sweet hampers and jars seem particulary expensive, all of them well over £10 and some even costing over £40! The personalised photo gifts are also a complete rip off. It will set you back £32.95 just for some oven gloves with a personalised photograph on and £59.95 for a photo beach bag. Unfortunatley, photo gifts are pretty expensive wherever you chose to buy them from so this is not a problem unique to Getting Personal.
For this reason I'd like to see an "£5 and under" or "£10 and under" section so that it would be easier to filter out the more expensive items.
A great website. I'd reccomend it to all those who are running out of gift ideas and want to find something truely unique and specail. If you like this website I'd reccomend that you should check out similar personalised gift websites such as:
http://www.prezzybox.com/ and http://www.iwantoneofthose.com/
I actually came across gettingpersonal.co.uk from a google search for birthday presents. As usual, I was struggling to find something for one of my male friends (I find buying for guys a nightmare).
I found their website to be quite easy to navigate, and found there to be a lot of interesting and quirky gift ideas at fair prices.
In fact, the way the site was divided into the sections that it was, meant that even if you have absolutely NO idea of what you're looking for (as I didn't), you would click on one link, which would almost guarantee that something would show up to take your interest.
In the end I got a grow your own chilli plant for my friend, which not only was a nice reasonably priced gift (I think it was around £4-£5), but it was also slightly more unusual than your average birthday present. I hate the idea of buying duplicate gifts!
In fact, I also ended up buying some other grow your own bits and pieces for myself!
What impressed me most was the fact that my items were delivered THE NEXT DAY, and that was with standard postage costs! This sealed the deal for me in terms of returning there in future - great if you have left getting a gift until the last minute.
This site is definitely worth a browse if you're stuck for ideas. Great range of prices for all budgets too.
