Gifts That Are Fun & Unusual!

My local shopping town used to have a Hawkins Bazaar store in the mall but at some point during the recession it closed down. I was quite disappointed to see it go as I had relied on the store to provide me with great gift ideas for my family. However, I soon discovered that the store has an online shop. Note that the website for the shop is simply www.hawkin.com rather than the full brand name.

Hawkins Bazaar state on their website that they sell "gifts for every occasion". I'm not certain that the type of products they sell would necessarily make great gifts for everyone but they do an excellent range of items for children and teens.

The company sell what I consider to be quite strange, unusual, unique items. Many of the items are really silly, fun or just plain odd! There are also a high degree of novelty items and some retro items too. For instance you buy a set of 'poo' shaped juggling beanbags, 'magic 8' balls, jack in the boxes, party bags, magic sets, remote control cars and more. If you are looking for something quirky and spirited then you'll find something here. As I say, though, I would say the items sold are most suited to kids.

The site is well set out with a search bar or items divided into categories such as 'Gadgets' or 'Retro Toys'. There are good pictures and item descriptions given. You simply click on the 'Add To Bag' button to put items in your virtual shopping cart and when you are ready to checkout you are taken to a secure server where you have to register with all of your details.

Basic delivery costs a reasonable £2.50 or you can choose to pay more for a faster service or a tracked order. The only issues I've had with delivery is that sometimes there can be a delay in the orders. This is particularly the case around Christmas time so bear this in mind when ordering. Otherwise the standard of packaging and items has been great. You are able to pay using Paypal as well as credit/debit card which is a big help.

This is definitely a unique store where you might visit to find fun gifts for kids or unusual gifts for that relative who you never quite know what to get. It's also a fun site if you simply want to treat yourself. I'm currently eyeing up a 'Mr Frosty' set as I had one in the 80's and it was the most fun ever!
