The trouble with HMV .... (hmv.co.uk)

Advantages: Good offers and sale prices

At this site you can order games, dvds, game consoles, music etc. An advantage to the site is that delivery is usually free. They do have some good offers and sale prices.

I used this site to order a playstation 3 and some games for Christmas. I had to create an account - ordering was easy and the site easy to navigate.

The playstation 3 arrived promptly and was well packaged. However, one of the games was not in stock. I was told that they were trying to get it from the manufacturer. Four weeks after christmas and the game had still not arrived. As the game was available on amazon (at a cheaper price), i went on the HMV website to cancel the order. Then I ordered the game from Amazon.

Later that day, after I had cancelled the order, i received an email from HMV saying that the order had been despatched and they duly took payment from my account grrrrrrr!! Needless to say - i had two games now!

I was very annoyed - was it co-incidence? Funny how after waiting all that time they decided to send the order.

I was somewhat nervous about returning the game as it did cost £40+ and I did not want it to go missing in the post. HMV recommend that for the return of high value goods recorded delivery service is used as they will not accept responsiblity for non-delivery of returned items.

I did not want to pay for recorded delivery as it was not my fault that they sent the item after i had cancelled it. Fortunately I found a freepost address to return the items to and just kept my fingers crossed that it would arrive safely. Fortunately it did. However, it did take some time for HMV to credit my account...

Summary: If you want something urgently make sure that they have it in stock
