Advantages: Excellent quality, good return process

Disadvantages: prices are not competitive enough

As we all know, HMV is probably one of the biggest high street music chain in the UK if not the biggest. As on the high street, their prices are not the best but their quality is usually very good.

I bought 3 CD's from HMV and overall i was pretty happy with their service. The prices were reasonable but i thought everything else was pretty good and soem things were excellent.

HMV's home site is very good because everything is organised and clearly layed out which is good, plus colours are used which make the page colourful and give it a good sense of presentation which doesn't overdo it because they are not big and bold at put in at the background, they are at the side.

HMV's return offer is excellent and well i guess you could even say generous! Once you have recieved the items you have ordered, you can return them within 60 days of buying them. The brilliant thing though, is that you can either post them back or return them to your nearest HMV store. The latter is amazing and really convenient, which a lot of people find useful.

Even though of this i found that HMV did things other than what they quoted on their website. For example, i sent back a CD to their freepost address and was charged nothing. The site, though says that if you change your mind about the goods and their is no fault of them or of HMV's then you must pay the charge for returning them. Like i said, i was charged nothing.

Even though, the site itself is a little confused, the returns system really impressed me because once i had sent back the products on the 21st and my account was updated on the 24th with all the important details.

Also the range of titles available is very good as they have music from pop to alternative and everything inbetween. If you are looking for something which is not widely available , you will probably find it at HMV along with only another few shops.

The only thing that HMV could
improve on really is making information clearer on returning items and main products cheaper, still though they are very good and like i said the returning process is really good.

If only they were to put their prices down a little then they would be excellent and even though they are major force right now, if they did put their prices down they would be the unanimous market leaders.
