I have been a loyal customer to Just Eat for many years and have always been a big fan. They have always offered me a polite and good service. However, I came across a discount for 20% off a rival online takeaway service called Hungry House and thought I would give them a go. Hungry House is a similar concept to that of Just Eat and Eat it now. You go to their website and type in your postcode to see the takeaways in your area, view their menus and order your food online. The food is then delivered to your door. Payment can usually be made a few different ways, the most popular being either by entering your card details or paying cash when the food arrives. This is ment to make the process of ordering a take-away that more easier and hassle free. There is no need to hoard takeaway menus and search for them when you fancy a take away, or even ring up a take away, its all there for you online in a few easy steps. So, how does my experience with Hungry House measure up to that of Just Eat. Unfortunately I have to say that I found their service rather poor and maybe slightly more complicated than it needed to be. I would say one of the largest difference between ordering food with Just Eat and Hungry house is the way in which your order is processed. With Just Eat you order your food, pay and then wait until the screen says the restaurant has accepted your order, then sit back and wait for it to be delivered. Hungry House on the other hand do not automatically accept your order, they send you an email. This can be a bit of a pain, clicking that refresh button in your inbox to see if anything has been sent from them. However, I have never waited more than five minutes to receive an email from them. I really believe this is were Hungry House let themselves down, its overly complicated and slightly annoying. The first time I ordered from just eat I spent around ten minutes choosing a restaurant and then deciding what food on the menu we would get. Only to wait 5 minutes for a email to say that the restaurant had refused my order. I found this really annoying as no reason was given and furthermore i had entered my postcode and this restaurant was one that came up as delivering in my area. Since I had already paid for this food I was told in the email that the money would go back into my user account and I could log back on and order from a different restaurant or the money would be returned into my bank account in a few days. I found this really annoying and a waste of time. However, I ordered from another restaurant. No problems this time, the order went through fine, the food was delivered quickly and it was enjoyable. I accept that the order not being accepted was down to the restaurant and not Hungry House. However, If a restaurant is going to decline my order, I would rather know straight away rather than wait for an email to inform me. I was disappointed that this happened on my first order with Hungry House, however when a email appeared in my inbox giving me 20% off my next order i decided to give them another go. To my disappointment a similar problem occured with them again. I am now not sure if this is a problem with ordering with Hungry House in general or just down to bad luck. It is worth noting that I have never had a restaurant declined an order when ordering with Just Eat. I would not go so far to say that I would not order from Hungry House again, however I much more inclined to order from Just Eat as I have never had a problem with ordering with them and I think that their ordering process is easier and more straight forward.
