Advantages: User friendly, Easy to navigate even if your no expert, Some excellent features for use later
Disadvantages: Some areas blank
On the opinion of kes33 I decided to check out the online shopping at Iceland. It just goes to show how the experience of others is good guidance. The site is and does all that kes33 says. Site report I would confirm all comments made: it's easy to navigate, you have plenty of opportunities to change goods, go back to different products and all the in-store things like "buy one get one free" are clearly marked. A pop-up reminder also supports the on-line shopper in case you missed the offer and it advises of other products in the range that are covered by the offer. The site is really user-friendly and makes shopping easy. I based this on the idea that even a quick trip to Iceland, for me, would take about an hour. This takes into account travel there, shopping, checkout and return home. Time saver later Some of the features that benefit you later are the “previous” orders you have placed. I’ll explain. This first shop of mine took about an hour from logon until purchase. A lot of our monthly shopping is what I will term “repeat purchases” such as breakfast cereal, biscuits, frozen items, tinned foodstuffs, washing powder etcetera. The fact that your previous orders are “saved” will allow you to shop the following month much more quickly. All you need to do is add, amend or remove items from your previous list and re-purchase. The site will automatically recalculate your total cost. So returning to the site to shop online again will speed-up your shopping the more you use the site. Do remember that it is unlikely that you will get same day delivery (due to processing by Iceland I would imagine). Nothing’s perfect I was a little disappointed by some of the site areas that did not display any products at all. These included fresh items such as sausages and bacon. I emailed the company to advise them of this. They promise to reply within one work
ing day. I’ll update this later. It also might be an idea if you could order online and collect your shopping later that same day from your local store. This, however, must be balanced with the excellent points of the site mentioned above and others like highlighting products that are organic or suitable for vegetarians. Is it your first time too? For first time surf shoppers there is always the dread of typing your visa, debit or switch card details into a computer and not knowing where the information is going. This was my first experience of buying online. I must say there was something reassuring about buying online with a company I would normally walk into in the high street. I didn’t feel any misgivings about entering my details. Perhaps if you have the same concerns this type of site is a good place to start your online shopping. Check out this checkout All in all I thought the online shopping site of Iceland was excellent and like kess33 I thoroughly reccomend it. Update. My shopping arrived within the two hour option I selected. One product wasn't available and my card debit was ammended accordingly. Iceland have sent me a monthly magazine listing products and offers forthcoming. This helps with the process too. Excellent!!
