Advantages: Easy to navigate and very speedy delivery.

Disadvantages: Saturday delivery a rip-off.

For my sons 12th birthday he had set his heart on some street-skates. It seems that his old roller-blades were not "cool" enough to be seen with at the local skate park and he needed some without brakes. Although these sounded lethal to me I eventually agreed (what do mums know?) and started looking around.

It soon became apparent that I was not going to be able to purchase anything suitable locally so I headed to the internet. Although there seemed to be lots of sites selling skates I preferred to stick to somewhere I had heard of! I eventually tracked down several items that seemed suitable and my son chose the pair that were all black (thus had a suitable "cool" rating!) that he saw on the JJB website. These were about the same price as the skates I had found on other sites so I was quite happy to order them

Navigating the JJB site was very easy as the menu at the side was listed in departments eg footwear and also by sport. I found it very easy to search for what I needed under the skates and skateboard section. Across the top there are the tabs for ordering information, store locator and the current sale. The item was easily selected and the checkout procedure was straightforward and used Visa secure. The delivery for orders over £50 is currently free. I used a voucher (myvouchercodes.com) to get free delivery as my order was under the threshold. The normal chage is £3.99. However if you want a saturday delivery it is £14.95! I think that this is extremely expensive and I am glad that I am usually able to arrange to be in during the week for deliveries. This charge would certainly put me off ordering if I worked full-time.

I placed my order late on a Sunday evening and presumed that it would arrive later in the week. There was an e-mail saying they had been dispatched when I arrived home on Monday. Just after I walked in from work on Tuesday a UPS delivery van arrived. The skates had arrived!

The packaging was perfectly acceptable and the product arrived in perfect condition. My son had them on within about two minutes and was very pleased with them as they looked exactly like the photograph and seemed of a good quality.

The paperwork came with the parcel and informed me that I had 28 days to return it with the original packaging if I changed my mind.

I would certainly use this site again. It was clear and uncluttered so it was easy to find what I needed. This time I was able to get free delivery but I could probably make up a £50 basket with all the stuff I seem to have to buy for my skating and cricket playing son! I am fortunate that I do not need the Saturday delivery as I think that is unfair (and has lost it a star)and would make using the site uneconomical. The delivery speed was excellent and the product matched the description perfectly.

(So far my son loves his skates and they are standing up to plenty of wear and tear!!)

Summary: Great site.

Its the delivery companies that charge extra for Saturday deliveries - I gues they have to pay preople more to work on Saturday but any shift work I've ever done didn't take W/E into consideration fotr more pay

It does seem unfair that the companies penalise the full time worker, most places charge extra for weekend deliveries. They should just be grateful we can afford to order anything at all! x
