Having got a little bit fed up with the lack of stock in my local pet shop, I thought I would start ordering my dog food and treats online. There are a few items that I order regularly, so I wanted to find a shop that sold them all, and at reasonable prices. I narrowed it down to two possibles, and decided to order from K9Capers.com.

K9 Capers sells food and accessories for dogs, cats, small animals, fish, birds and horses. The website is easy to navigate through, with products set out in logical categories and a search function as well. They have a huge range of items available. One thing I particularly like is that you can buy some of the dog food packs individually, for example Naturediet, rather than having to buy a whole case of packets in the same flavour as is the case with some other websites. This means that I can mix and match the flavours to give my dogs some variety. Things like dog biscuits are also available in bulk to save money.

Prices

I have found the prices quite good when compared with other shops, both online and bricks and mortar. They are not the absolute cheapest, but I have seen poor reviews for the cheaper shop.

Promotions

K9 Capers have a sale section, where you can get special offers on new items, clearance items and monthly special offers. They also run a loyalty scheme, where you can get 1% of the money you spend back in points to redeem in the store. You can redeem these any time - there is no threshold you need to reach first. You also get free delivery for orders over £29.99, which is the lowest threshold I have seen.

Service

My first order arrived quickly, but I found that one of the items was missing. I saw that this item had been refunded to me as it was out of stock, although I was not told this before my order was dispatched. I phoned up to enquire about this, and the lady who answered was very helpful. She explained that as my order contained food they had dispatched what was in stock immediately, in case I ran out. All I need to do in future is to add a note in the comments field when I order that I would like a phone call. I found the customer service really good as I could speak to a real person straight away, even at the weekend. Subsequent orders have been complete and arrived quickly.

Ordering

The ordering process is easy, with items being added to a cart which you can they pay for by credit card. It is simple to add items to the cart, and you can easily change the quantities or delete items. You also get an email confirmation when you have ordered, and a further email letting you know when your order has been dispatched, which is normally the next working day (or Tuesday if you order at the weekend).

Other features of the website

The K9 Capers website also has other helpful information, such as dog training tips, a vet finder and a rescue list. They also have franchised pet care, so you can book pet sitting or dog walking from their website.

K9 Capers also have a bricks and mortar store which is located in Crawley, which may be more convenient if you live in that area.

Overall, I have found the product range and service good at K9 Capers, and I would recommend the shop to other pet owners.
