Real postcards can be sent completely free to anywhere in the world! Visit www.keekaboo.com to see samples of the cards available. Simply choose a design, type in your message and the recipient's details and a card will be printed, franked and posted off for you. The cards have various pictures and all have advertisements for various companies and web sites. You can even earn a few Beenz each week just for using the service and these can be exchanged for cards with slightly more interesting designs. However, I think the free ones are more than adequate for most purposes. Their designs are still quite eye-catching and some are topical, such as the tennis ones currently shown. They vary from time to time, with 7 free ones shown at the moment. There are also links to other sites, for example www.handbag.com, where other designs can be selected. Keekaboo claim that postcards will arrive at their destination after 1-4 days in the UK, and 14 days overseas.
Seeing this as a brilliant way to save on stamps and handwriting I have sent several free cards, including a test message. This took 4 days, including a weekend, to arrive in the UK. Quite a long time considering its frank mark was "1st class", but not particularly unusual given our postal service. It was of standard size, and the design and quality were fine (perhaps a little on the flimsy side) and the name and address details were printed clearly. However, the message part was in a rather fancy font, in places verging on the illegible. I would therefore advise typing in capitals as that should be clearer. Another drawback is that the web site boxes for typing in name and address details do not allow for very long names or for addresses which are not of a standard format. There are also only a maximum of 15 lines for typing your message, but I for one am not complaining - its free!
NOTE: keekaboo have just notified me (by postcard!) that these free cards cannot be used to enter pri
ze draws. Unfortunately, it is not worth trying because they "will not be delivered".

Don't bother trying to enter comps with these cards Xueli. They have just (9/8/00) sent me a postcard saying that prize draw entries will not be delivered. The service is just for sending to family & friends although the website doesn't appear to say so.

Good idea about using this to enter competitions. Will try that if I remember next time!
