~ ~ I’ve debated long and hard as to whether or not I should even post this opinion.
The reason; it’s about the “weed”. The dreaded tobacco that so many people consider one of the biggest scourges of our modern society.
The reason I’ve debated with myself about posting is because I’m about to tell you about a site where you can purchase tobacco at a fraction of the UK or Irish prices.
Some might see this as ‘encouraging’ people to smoke. I see it that way myself, to a certain extent.
I know (for sure) that my good mate here at dooyoo, “Sidneygee”, is going to castigate me from a height for posting this!
But as long as people are going to smoke, I don’t see why they shouldn’t be made aware of how they can purchase it at the best possible price.
Dooyoo is a consumer site, when all is said and done, and tobacco is a consumer product.
So on with the opinion.

~ ~ As some of you will be aware, I’m still addicted to tobacco, despite many valiant attempts to give it up. (There I go, rationalising again!)
For about the last 35 years, ever since I was fifteen, I have been a devotee of the hand made cigarette. In other words, I ‘roll my own’.
For most of these years, I have used Golden Virginia, a domestic brand of tobacco, that now retails in the shops here in Ireland at a price of €5.75 for a 25-gram packet. (approx. 1 ounce)
I believe that it is even more expensive over in the UK!
So a couple of years ago, being true to my Scottish heritage, I began to wonder whether there was any way that I could manage to indulge my filthy habit in a more economical manner. (could I get it any cheaper?)
I began to scour the darkest recesses of the Internet, and for a couple of months used an online tobacconists in France (forgotten the name now) where I managed to purchase my tobacco at a bit of a discount from high street
prices.

~ ~ Then I came across the site I’m going to tell you about now, ‘www.knightgallery.com’.
Knight gallery is an actual tobacconist, with a retail outlet in the Paradise Valley Mall in Pheonix, Arizona, where they have been established for over twenty years.
This is a virtual smoker’s emporium, with everything the smoker could ever desire or want on sale, and at prices to make your mouth water.
The online site will give you a virtual tour of the shop, introduce you to the staff and owners, (Karen is particularly nice!) and give you a full breakdown of all the cigarettes, tobacco, cigars, snuff, and smoker’s accessories that they have to offer.

~ ~ On the page dedicated to hand rolling tobacco, I discovered a product called ‘Golden Virginia’. Now this isn’t the mass-produced variety of tobacco that you can buy here in the UK, but the actual genuine article, straight from the tobacco plantations of the USA.
It’s a lovely, mellow smoke, and at the totally unbelievable price of only $1.50 per ounce.
Yep. You read that correctly. $1.50 or €1.74. (about £1.00 Sterling)
They also have a ‘House Blend’ on sale at the even cheaper price of only $1.25 per ounce. (€1.45 or £0.88 Sterling)
This is a nice smoke as well, but a bit ‘sweeter’ than the Golden Virginia. (It tastes a bit like Old Holburn) I usually get them to throw in a couple of ounces of this as well for a bit of a change.
Drum, the popular Dutch blend of tobacco is here as well, at a price of $3.35 (€3.89 or £2.37 Sterling) for an ounce. (including 50 cigarette papers)
Now it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to work out that this is a MASSIVE saving on the price you pay for tobacco either here or in the UK.
Before I jumped in with both feet, I sent off an email and asked them to post me a couple of ounces to try out, just to make sure I like
d the stuff.
Now I order from them on a regular basis.

~ ~ I only had to give them my credit card number once, with my first order.
They then keep this on file, and simply debit my card every time I make a purchase.
There are various different types of delivery available.
The one I use is called ‘Global Priority’. It is a service of the US Mail, and costs me $9 per order.
International orders are shipped once a week on a Monday, and I have always received delivery here in Ireland the same week. (Once within two days!!)

~ ~ They also have a section where they sell domestic American and Imported cigarettes, but I’ve never bought any of these.
There are some internationally known brands listed there however, like Benson and Hedges, Rothmans, Camel, and Marlboro, at a cost of $45 (€52.23 or £31.78 Sterling) for a carton. (200 cigarettes).
You can buy cigars, and all sorts of smoker’s requisites, like cigarette papers and rolling machines.

~ ~ There are a couple of drawbacks.
Because the tobacco is shipped airmail, it tends to dry out in transit. But this is simply cured by adding some old potato peelings to the bag, which moistens it up again nicely. (without leaving an aftertaste in the tobacco)
The last thing is the legal implications. I’m fairly certain that if Her Majesty’s Customs and Excise (or their Irish equivalent)) knew about this, they would be knocking on your door pretty sharpish, looking for the unpaid duty.
I leave that to your own conscience.
All I can say is that I’ve been using this site for a long time, with no problems of ANY description. (so far)
So if you insist on smoking (and many do!) then this American website can save you a right few shillings, and comes highly recommended by the “mad cabbie”.

Summary:
