With my Nan's 80th birthday fast approaching, I was in need of an idea for her birthday present. Everyone was advising getting the usual slippers, chocolates, flowers etc... but I hate to give the same presents I know everyone else is getting someone. Nan likes her knitting and crocheting, and I'd spotted a folding knitting bag on a wooden frame in a local shop, but as it was between £25 - £30, so I thought I'd look for something cheaper. A quick search on Google took me to www.knitandsew.co.uk According to the website, KnitAndSew.co.uk (formerly known as Knitters and Sewers World) is the UK's Largest Knitting, Sewing & Haberdashery Shop and I must say they do have a fair amount of products on the website. KnitAndSew.co.uk sell many knitting and sewing products - from many different yarns (knitting, sock, crochet etc), knitting project kits and patterns to pins & needles, books, accessories, bags, equipment and more. Their products include well known brands such as Sidar, Wendy, Disney, Dylon Fabric Dyes, among others. The KnitAndSew.co.uk website is easy to use, so I had no problems in navigating to the Knitting Bags section (in fact, there was a button right on the Home page). I scrolled my way through the knitting bags and found one or two that I thought Nan would like, before I finally settled on the City Rose knitting bag with frame (so it can stand up when open). It was £15.30 - quite a lot cheaper than the ones I'd seen in a local shop. Clicking on the "More Details" button took me to the product page which lists product details and size, along with a list of matching products (which is a great idea but it's a shame these matching products are just listed rather than linked to). I clicked "Add to Basket" and I was then asked if I wanted to "View basket" or "Continue shopping". I continued shopping as I wanted to get Nan something to go with the knitting bag. I'd decided to go to my local wool shop to get some wool anyway, but was sure I'd be able to find something else to go with the knitting bag on KnitAndSew.co.uk. Searching around the website, I came across some knitting pin cases. They are available with or without knitting pins/needles, but Nan has lots of knitting needles, so I decided just to get a case. A hardcover knitting pin case cost me £5.90 and some are available to match the knitting bags. Checking out was also simple... A number of shipping options are available including collection from their Swansea store (free), First Class Royal Mail, Recorded Delivery, Next Business Day Delivery and more. I needed my items in a hurry, so I chose Next Business Day Delivery (£4.99 - dependant on weight of items ordered). I paid for my order online securely using my debit card, but orders can also be made by telephone, email or snail mail. The website lists a number of email addresses and other contact details should you have any queries about products and orders etc, so there's no need to worry if you have a problem. My order arrived the day after I'd ordered it and the products were in tip top condition so I've had no cause for complaint. I received both an order confirmation email and another when my order had been dispatched. All in all, I've been very happy with the service I've received through KnitAndSew.co.uk. They have a large number of products available and have a quick turn around on orders. The website also has a Glossary of terms to help those of us who aren't quite sure about certain knitting and sewing terms! With both Nan and Mum being knitters and one or two friends doing knitting and stitching, I'll be adding this website to my favourites list and recommending it to them, I found it very useful and friendly to use. I'd definitely recommend KnitAndSew.co.uk for those knitting, sewing and crafty products!
