Advantages: Great Service, Great Prices, They know their stuff

Disadvantages: None

My thoughts on the relative merits of the GNU Operating System and the Linux Operating System Kernel are irrelevant here, however if you are interested in using these tools, then this is the place to get them.

My experience with Linux Emporium left an extremely pleasant taste on the tongue.

I ordered a copy of Debian GNU/Linux, which was part of a special offer. I bought the O'Reilly & Associates 'Learning Debian GNU/Linux' book for the normal price, and recieved six (count 'em) CD's for free. These CD's contained the latest release of the Debian GNU/Linux distribution, the source code for the distribution and various other odds and ends. This was an excellent deal as far as I am concerned.

I ordered via the web site (secure credit card) but made some sort of mistake. I sent an email to the people at Linux Emporium, and within about three minutes I recieved a reply and the whole thing was sorted.

Moreover, my purchase arrived at my door THE NEXT MORNING!!!

The customer service from this small, independent company is truly second to none, and could certainly teach the parasitic multinationals a thing or two about courtesy and service.

Linux Emporium's prices are excellent. Ranging from £2.50 for A COMPLETE OPERATING SYSTEM to £44 and more, depending on what you want...and you do get EXACTLY what you want - no more, no less.

They provide every distribution of the GNU/Linux System that I've ever heard of, and also flavours of UNIX such as FreeBSD.

They also (get this) give away complete operating system packages for free, you pay only the postage and packaging. P&P is £1.50 per four CD's, so if you're only ordering three CD's, then why not get a free one?

They also sell a range of Linux-compatible games and hardware, again at extremely reasonable prices.

Linux Emporium is perfect for the GNU/Linux enthusiast who knows exactly what he/she
wants, and these people seem to be the main focuas of the company and web site, however the GNU/Linux newcomer is not forgotten.

There is a FAQ on the web site for newbies to help them choose the right distibution, and a page containing links to some great sites for GNU/Linux help and support.

All in all, Linux Emporium is the ideal place for the GNU/Linux enthusiast to get the right product at the right price with top drawer service from people who evidently know their stuff.

Eleven out of Ten.
