After having no problems with Littlewoods which we hold a catalogue with in my girlfriend’s name we decided to give Littlewoods Extra a try. But this time we thought we would register this one in my name, just for a change really. So off we went onto their website LXDirect.com.

The website itself is pretty similar to Littlewoods own website should be pretty simple to use really. As sometimes we found it easier to look through their catalogues for something the first thing I decided to do was to request a catalogue. This was a relatively simple process, as in the op left corner of the homepage there is a button call cat. request which does exactly what it says. Under this you can enter your details and click the submit button and a catalogue will be sent to you.

In order to shop with them on this site you have to register, and this is done in pretty much the same way as requesting a catalogue. Again in the top left corner of the homepage is a button called register which again does exactly what it says. You need to enter the same details as you do when requesting a catalogue but a this stage get to create a user name and password which you need to enter each time you wish to log onto the site.

Once you have your own password you can log into the site every time you goto LXDirect.com which again there is a simple button called log on in the top corner of the homepage. Once logged in you can shop online without having to enter your own details again and can also look into details of your account if you decided to take up the option of an account with them.

If you take up what is known as a Flexible Account when you log into the site you are able to view you current balance, recent transactions and previous statements. The benefit of this site is that it shows you the date your next statement will be available and this is normally a good 10 days before it comes through the post so give you that extra time to know how much you need to pay.

If you wish to apply for this account then there is a button called money zone which gives you details of all of the offers that Lxdirect has including the flexible account. At this point you can choose to apply on line or there is a number you can call to do it over the phone. When you have got your account it works the same way as other accounts do with minimum amounts you have to pay which is 5% or £5 which ever is greater. The only downside to spreading the payments is that the APR is 32.9%.

The other features they offer under the money zone includes, breakdown cover, card protection, home assist, home contents cover, bank loans, Visa card etc etc. There are loads of things to choose from its like looking at a finance site rather than a shopping site.

Shopping from LX is simple; everything is split down into heading such as men’s, women’s, household etc. These headings then get broken down further into heading such as under Men’s / Footwear you can choose from a list of headings down the left hand side such as shoes or boots etc. This type of product grouping applies to the whole web site and as such everything is easy to find. There are 10 main heading to choose from: Women’s, Men’s, Kids, Sports, Your Home, Outdoor, Electrical, Toys and Gifts, Sale, New looks. So there is definitely plenty to choose from.

The only down side to this compared to Littlewoods usual website is that LX charge you for delivery where as Littlewoods don’t. Considering they are the same company this to me appears rather strange. However although they do charge the cost itself is quite cheap, order before 3pm and they deliver the next day for only £2.95 or you can chose which day you would like them to deliver. If you want delivery on a Saturday you can also have that service providing you order before 3pm on the Thursday.

You need to check what products you are ordering to what delivery charges apply to them. The above mentioned service is available on general fashion items providing they are in stock. Some other items do incorporate a larger delivery charge though. Washing machines for example can be delivered for £2.95 within 10 working days or for £20 within 3 working days, cookers incorporate a different charge so the best thing you can do is to check what charges apply before you order.

The products from LX are just as good quality as you can get from other home shopping catalogues and other retailers and as yet have not had to send anything back for quality or faulty reasons. If you wanna pay for quality and names then they have a selection of some of the biggest brand names available on the high street including Morgan, Diesel, Timberland and Playboy.

From the homepage you can access everything that they have in their catalogues but get to view the new season’s catalogues a bit earlier than you would if you just waited for the hardcopy. The best thing about the site is that as soon as special offers are released they go onto the website first and as they don’t last very long it’s a perfect time to buy them as sometimes the items can be less than half price in the clearance section.

An additional service that LX offers is email alerts, and this does exactly that. You receive alters via email every time new offers or new catalogues become available. I think on average I receive email alerts from them every couple of weeks some are of interest and some are not it depends what you are looking for.

Overall for those of you that enjoy shopping then this has to be a site to look at as the prices are fairly reasonable too.
