Advantages: easy to use, reasonable prices, fast delivery
Disadvantages: no shoes
(The London Wide site is currently shut down although they say this is only temporary) For a wide variety of clothes that you won’t see in high street stores for reasonable prices London Wide is a great online retailer. Dealing in a variety of labels from Box Fresh and Cinema X to Rude, Traffic and Battery Organic and selling T-shirts, tops trousers, ties and vintage wear this is a great alternative way to shop for all of us who are too lazy to drag ourselves off to London, or who are bored with high street designs and seeing everyone in the pub wearing the same clothes as you! The site is easy to navigate and the pictures of the clothes load quickly with the prices and colour options very clearly displayed for even the most Internet wary. The clothes range from some of the more expensive brands (£60 for an Aai Kai top) too reasonably priced T-shirts (£27+). The advantage of the site is that many of the clothes are not widely available in high street shops and retail only in larger cities or from individual web sites. Special offers and top sellers are flagged on the home page, although why anyone would choose clothes just because everyone else has been buying them escapes me. Also If you can stand the embarrassment some of these brands, especially cinema X, seem to be very popular with the ladies on TV (Gail Porter, Cat Deeley). The ordering is secure and easy. You receive an email to inform you that your order has been received and when you can expect delivery. I have found the staff to be very helpful and emailed customer service to ask if an item was in stock and if I ordered that day (Friday) would I receive it by Saturday? I received a reply about an hour later, and after ordering an email saying they had posted it out and I would receive it tomorrow (British Postal Service allowing!). I did. So whilst some of the clothes may seem a little more expensive than standard high street shops I can rea
lly recommend the quality of the goods and the service that you receive, as well as some great and individual clothes that all your friends will be jealous of! Happy shopping.

- 03/05/01 I can't say I'd like to get into Gail Porter or Cat Deeley's clothes (unless they were still in them at the time). |
