madaboutwine.comNewest Review: ... to support such an operation, offering not just little but apparently no customer service whatsoever. Having placed a not inconsiderable order, I enquired a week or so later as to whether my order had been despatched (I had not received any notification from them at all) and whether I could have a receipt (which is in fact, the law!). I was cut off in mid-sentence by a very rude representative, and when after she had raised her voice at me, I politely asked her whether she had in fact realised that she was speaking to one of her customers, she paused long enough to draw breath and continue her tirade! Needless to say, I have ye... more |

I recently ordered from this company, as the site was relatively easy to use, the prices were good, and I thought it was good to see a rival to Virgin Wines. Unfortunately, madaboutwine.com do not appear to have the infrastructure to support such an operation, offering not just little but apparently no customer service whatsoever. I have been ordering online from Virgin Wines for some time and have only had to complain about two bottles. Unfortunately, my experience with Madabout has not been so good. Now don't get me wrong...I'm no wine snob. I like wine for every-day drinking and (horror of horrors) have been known to adulterate it with soda water!!! We normally buy white, as red wine gives my wife asthma. Sticking to one type also allows for easier comparison I believe. My first (and last) purchase from Madabout was a case of 12 mixed whites and were awful! One, a chardonnay called "Flat Rock" was supposed to have been ... Read the complete review

Experience has been mixed of this wine online mail order company. I have also found it a thoroughly pleasant and easy site to use, and the service and wines have been good, but friends have been less than enamoured with some of the wines they have been sent. The site offers lots of good mixed tasting and special offer cases, which I tend to go for, and the wines are pretty good from £4.50 ish upwards. Delivery was prompt and they were good at keeping me informed of my order status. The site is enjoyable. There are lots of articles on grape varieties, how to store wine, which foods go well and so on, and searching their databse and reading their ... Read the complete review

Although this is a relatively new site it has a vast array of wines available. ALthough they have this vast collection the actually delivery can take a long time for some specialist wines, Delivery can take anywhere between 3 days to over 2 weeks, so if you are going to order any specialist wines from them, Order in advance so as to allow for delays in the delivery. Apart from this the Website is very good and the customer services team is very helpful when trying to ensure rapid delivery. ... Read the complete review

This is a relatively new e-commerce site specialising in the appreciation and purchase of wine. For the first few months they are doing free delivery on their products, and are constantly coming out with special offers to tempt in the punters! Not only is the site well designed and maintained, they also have on hand, a panel of wine experts. Email them with a wine (or port!) related query, and they will get back to you surprisingly quickly, with an equally surprisingly eloquent answer! I recently asked them what I could eat with an old bottle of '85 Churchill Port. I not only got an answer, the chap also gave me an approximate value of the bottle!! Nice. On ...
