Advantages: Great prices on brand named goods.

Disadvantages: None really, except that, as with all online shopping, you can't pay and take it with you.

Memory Bits is an internet mail order company from St. Helier, Jersey. The Dooyoo blurb in the introduction says that it is in the north east of England, but this is incorrect.

It sells a whole range of flash memory and the accessories that go with it. The range is selected from brand name companies to give value for money and includes SD Cards, Trans Flash, compact flash, micro SD, XD, MMC+, Pro Duo, MMC Mobile, Card Readers, USB flash Drives, USB Pen Drives. It also offers Bluetooth Dongles, GPRS Receivers, Mobile Phone Memory, PSP Memory, Digital Camera Memory, and Camcorder Memory.

The range covers the whole spectrum from 128 MB right up to 8GB. Prices compare very favourably with the High Street, even when you add on the postage costs.


The site loads very quickly and is easy to navigate. Simply choose your category and click. Choose from cameras, phones, batteries, memory and accessories and go to the listings of available products. You can also choose from a selection of camera and phone cases. Everything is clearly priced and there is no VAT to add at the checkout.

I wanted to buy a couple of USB flash drives to transport files from one computer to the other and to store some word files for future reference.

Selection is easy. You go to the section you want. In my case 'USB Flash Drive' , then you select the memory capacity you want . You can choose between 128 MB and 8GB. I wanted three 1GB flash drives . There is a good selection of brand names, styles and colours but I opted for very compact bright yellow, Kingston 1GB data travellers.

These were priced at £5.05 each. Postage was £1.99. So that was £12.99 to pay through Paypal. You don't have to use Paypal. You can pay by credit, or debit card via internet, or telephone them, if you wish.

It took four days for my package to arrive, via first class post, from Jersey, but this did include a weekend. I received an email confirming my order and a second one informing me that my order had been dispatched.

I would recommend this company for speed of service, price and choice. Excellent, I will use them again.
