DONT USE THIS COMPANY
I've used it sucessfully for simple orders, like strimmer wire. Recently I needed a machinery part. so I asked for a part which came witha fixing kit. The information they sent was wrong, which is fair enough - if they managed to correct the situation. But of course they didn't manage that.A series of messages passed which culminated in a "send it back and we'll refund..." Again fair enough, but what a waste of time. So - OK for straight forward orders, but when I need knowledgable help I'll look elsewhere next time.
I ordered about £170 worth of spare parts for my parent's mower on 02 Sep 12. The order was processed payment was immediately taken from my account. After 2 weeks, the parts hadn't arrived and so I contacted Mower Magic to see if they could give me some idea of when I could expect them. I was told they were taking some time to arrive from their supplier. I contacted the company a couple of times after this, with no further progress made, so in the end I sent an e-mail telling them if I didn't have the parts by a Wed 03 Oct 12, I would be forced to cancel the order. As the parts had not arrived by the stated date, I phoned them one last time and was told all the parts (except one washer) had arrived and they would ship them the same day (Thurs 04 Oct 12), which seemed reasonable. The next day, I called to make sure the parts had shipped and was told they had been sent the previous day, as agreed. I then asked for the tracking number, and was then informed the parts had NOT been sent, and I would not get them until the following Monday. As a consequence of this, I immediately cancelled the order as I have come to the end of my leave and will not be here to fit the new parts for some considerable time. The employee said he would refund my money, and when I told him I was very upset at the poor service, he just hung up the phone!
These days, most people expect better service when ordering online. There was no indication that Mower Magic did not hold these parts in stock, but they took my money immediately. They portray themselves as a company which pride themselves on high standards of service but 4-5 weeks delivery is unacceptable when people need these products to meet a deadline. Finally, to hang up on a customer with a genuine grievance just demonstrates that this company are only interested in one thing - separating you from your money! I have received no apology for this poor service, which makes a mockery of the statements on their website about their customer service, i.e. "...customer care is the main priority".
I am sure people who have received their products in time are very happy, but the true test of a company is how they react when things go wrong, and in this case they have failed dismally.
I would not use this company again and I would NOT recommend them.
I ordered a part from this firm and payed by paypal but what they don't make clear is when you fill out the order form for the part and put in a delivery address then pay by paypal all the delivery instructions are overridden and the item is sent to the principal paypal address,it won't even give you the option of other paypal addresses.this is ok if you wanted it to go to that address but when you have placed and paid for the order it still comes up with the address you put on the order form not the changed address. But with mower magic the customer is always wrong so first and last time of usiing them and would advise anyone to steer clear.
Whats the point of having a business webite, taking orders AND payment, and a week later when the customer phones up to find out why the goods havent arrived, (clearly stated that they would be posted first class delivery) - TO FIND OUT THAT THEY HAVENT EVEN PROCESSED MY ORDER AND GOODS ARE STILL AT THE DEPOT. This company is a shambles. Do not waste your money, time or energy with this shower of s..t.
I have used this company over the past couple of years and I have always found them to be excellent. They have always been extremely helpful and have often gone the extra mile for me. I have bought several products and not being great with electricals have often needed to ring up for advice and every time I have called the staff they have been brilliant, from which spare part I need to advising me on the best machine for the job nothing ever seems to be too much trouble. The last purchase I made I used the spring discount code and saved myself £48!!!! So always look out for the codes throughout the year as they really can save you a lot of money. I will continue to use this company for all my gardening needs and for their extensive knowledge on all their products. I would recommend them to everyone.
This is the first time I have left a negative review about any supplier, but my experience was so bad I think other potential customers should know quite how little is behind their slick marketing image before risking an order. For me they will now always be known as Mower Tragic, which I feel more accurately reflects the experience I had.
I chose to order from them based on price and that their website proudly claimed they were a family company, with all the inferences that has for quality of service. The mower I ordered arrived quickly but with, in my opinion, inadequate instructions, resulting in a seized engine.
The impression I got from what was, in my opinion, heavy-handed questioning when I phoned for advice was that this was a common problem and, when I complained in writing, sighted their quality procedures as evidence that the machine was adequately labelled. I found this to be dishonest as the reality is that they had never seen the machine which was delivered direct from the manufacturers. They refused to look at the mower, except at my expense and, after giving me some patronising advice about some other garden equipment I had bought elsewhere, suggested I 'be a man' and accept responsibility rather than try and hold them responsible.
In the end I got nowhere and so went to a local mower company who, apart from giving me a much better deal, gave excellent service.
My advice is if you want superficial service from a company who do not want to know you once they have your money, and are happy to be both insulting and misleading once a problem arises, use Mower Tragic, but otherwise try someone else.
My order number is NB16AD10079227.
Eckman 24-Volt Cordless Rechargeable Cylinder Lawn Mower
Product no: RM001
As a gardener, one of my clients ordered an Eckman 24-Volt Cordless Rechargeable Cylinder Lawn Mower from an offer in the Daily Express Newspaper and received it one week after ordering it.
The offer was £99 + £29.99 for the spare battery because she had a large lawn. The Recommended Retail price is £149.99p
Today I assembled it together with a simple instruction pamphlet within minutes of getting it out of its box. The only problem I had with the assembly was the instructions. They say that I would have to bend the handle components to fit to each other. I feel that quality should prevet this unnecessary task and at first I thought they had sent the wrong components.
The mower is lightweight weighting 37lbs. Made of light metal approx 18sw gauge it is quite robust. However I feel that time will tell with wear and tear on the Cylinder and Bottom Blades which I feel are not very thick steel. This concerns me a bit, with the odd hidden stone or turf of edging which may bend the blades, but many mowers are made this way these days. If enough care is taken, like any mower any damage can be prevented.
It has a nice desirable wide cut of 40cm (17.5") and produces a nice lined finish to a lawn with the aid of the integrated rear rollers. The cutting depth is between 1"-2", so I would suggest that this is really for the fine and fairly even lawns.
The Battery will last enough to cut 5000 sq feet of lawn (approximately 2 tennis courts) on one charge, about 50 minutes continuous mowing depending on how fast you walk as it is a push mower. This isn't as daunting task as it sounds as the ten inch side wheels makes it easy to push, is light and durable and it turns easily.
The light 25 litre grass catcher cuts out a lot of raking but I find that occasionally I have to pull the grass back into the catcher as it gathers near the opening especially if it is a bit wet. That is the other advantage though; you can cut it damp if you want because of no electric cables.
This is a good little mower so far as I have tried and tested, so I will add an update later in the year when I have used it more and it has a few miles and charges to the batteries.
To get the best effects on cutting your own lawn I find, is to have an even skirting (brick or earth or concrete). As for borders when you have a lawn edge and recess (Slight ditch) either ensure one wheel can go on the other side of the ditch, keeping even along the edge. This has to be done very carefully as not to catch the turf or may damage the blades.
The other alternative is to mow as close to the edge and finish with shears or edge cutter, or an Eckman WGT01 edge trimmer (which I would recommend once I find out how the mower performs. Then mow up and down the direction you wish for your stripes to run.
Do not run, walk at a pace that will suit the cut; once you see that the grass is folding over you know that it isn't cutting properly, you are either going too fast, the cut is too high or the blades need sharpening or adjusting.
If you are tempted to buy this model, please let me know how you get on with it.
Always good service, Im a gardener by trade and I have bought many items from this company. They are always very helpful and good value, they also sell spare parts for pretty much everything so I get my trimmer line and chainsaw chain from them as-well. They normally do me an extra good deal as I'm in the trade and I keep coming back.
I have a very different experience. I ordered a mower on Tuesday last week at 11am and it arrived the next day at 9am !! That is less than 24 hours and it was also a very good price. I did have a question about how to use one it's features, so I called them; got put through to Tech Support and they answered the query right away. I would use this company again without hesitation
Order a mower before 9 on a Wed. Money taken immediately. Waited 5 days. Rang 6 times to be told would get mower in 2 weeks. Doesn't matter which option you choose when phoning always get same person. Every time I rand I was told I would get mower the next day.Eventually cancelled the order.
