Advantages: lots of choice and good to buy sale items.

Disadvantages: payment options are slow and annoying.

I love Next and have done for ages since a friend convinced me about how good their items of clothing and other products are. I often intend to go shopping but end up not going because of the time consumption it actually takes these days loading the kids in the car and getting the time for a good browse.

I first went on Next.co.uk about a fortnight ago. It is very easy to navigate through and has a nice lay out.

There are tabs accross the top which state the different departments you can buy from including:

Children
Women
Men
Offers
Fashion Brands
Gifts
Sports
Home / Furniture
Electricals
Flowers / Wine
Quickshop


If you put the mouse on one of the tabs without clicking, you can then navigate to a sub-department like Mens - footwear which saves time loading 2 different pages on the computer.

There's a search bar which helps if you know what you're looking for and saves time going through the categories.

To buy things on the site, you must register which I often find on clothing sites, but I do find it irritating to enter all my details and accept the confirmation email but this is only a one off so its not all bad.

You can shop on the site and add things to the basket and carry on shopping, you don't have to pay for every individual item as you choose them.

Delivery charge is £3.95 per order so you can buy as much as you like and you will be charged the same for it. This is good as long as you buy a few items, but if you only buy something small like a top, then it is a bit of a rip off really.

After you've registered, you're given an account number. The payment system isn't like other online shopping places like river island, it is more old fashioned like the original catalogue system, where you have to order and don't pay straight away but you get a monthly statement. I can understand this in a way, and I know it's better for people who haven't got the funds for what they want, but I think they should also have the option for credit cards and paypal because these payment methods are so much quicker and easier. At least that way I know they're paid for.

The site is much better to go on if you're looking for a sale because you can simply click Offers rather than digging through messy rails of clothes.

Overall, the site is brilliant for clothes and shoes etc, and has a wide variety but I really think they need to get with the times on their payment options.

Summary: A great site that needs a bit of updating.
