My family have been a loyal fan of Next for many years with my mother regularly lining up at 5am in the morning during boxing day sales (insane, or just dedicated?)
The website, unfortunately, needs a lot of improvement! It's rather frustrating to use. The homepage usually consists of a model showcasing the newest trend or clothes - it's very professional looking and makes you want to search the website.
There are drops down menus with the following categories: Women, Lingerie, Mens, Girls, Boys, Shoes, Home & Furniture, Label, Lipsy & Co, Flowers and Clearance. This makes it easier for you to quickly navigate to the relevant page you want. Each drop down menu has many sub-categories too. For example, in the Women section you can browse for clothing, shoes, lingerie, and also their collections.
At the bottom of the homepage you have option to explore the company in 72 different countries, and there pages regarding Help, Privacy & Legal and Other Services. There is also the option of seeing them on social networking sites such as Twitter and Instagram.
I'm going to say that browsing the products is a real pain, again, but only so when you're under the SALE category. Whilst you can narrow down your searches in terms of department, product category, size and price, you cannot view the item in full detail! I.e., usually when you click on a product it takes you to a different page where you can view a detailed description, sizing and how to take care of the product. This makes me not want to purchase during a sale because I cannot see just what the product looks like, nor can I read any reviews. Most people rely on these to make purchases so Next should be wise to accommodate to that. It's quite important to note that returns policies are often different on sale items so there's all the more reason that customers should know what they're buying. However, having said that, you can view products in more detail when they're not on sale (full priced and not under the sale drop down menu). This is a relief, as I usually buy my blazers and work-wear from Next and I need to see how they look in depth.
I particularly like the 'Browse Our Collections' options - they list the relevant products in an attractive way, and it's like a Powerpoint presentation which you click to either go forward or backwards. It looks very professional and really emphasises the quality and elegance of their products.
Overall, I would say that the website needs a little bit of a touch up on the sale section. I would recommend that people use the website for general shopping, alongside with popping into stores, but I think it's a better idea to solely visit the stores during a sale simply because you can view the items more clearly (although, that may be a problem because so many people flock to the stores!).
I often visit Next on the high street but last year wanted an item they only stocked online. I was told in the store that I had to open an account if I wanted to buy anything from the Next Directory or online. This required setting up an account for which I was given a customer number and credit account. It's actually not something I wanted to do but I really wanted the item so I obliged. I then discovered you are charged £3.75 to receive a catalogue from them and have to pay this charge unless you make an order!
My whole experience with Next led me to abandoning my account pretty swiftly. I did not like the fact that I was given a huge credit limit without requesting it and I also think that the charge for the directory is a sneaky way of making you place an order with them.
The online shop is also not perfect especially when it comes to sales. Although having an active account meant that I was invited to a couple of 'VIP' sales online (prior to the sales goods being offered to other customers and new customers) the actual website design for these sales was terrible. The website seems to scan pictures from the paper catalogue and put them up on the site without any means of being able to zoom in and view the goods properly. It's just hit and miss whether you get a good bargain or not! On some pictures you can barely even see the item!
Another issue I had with Next is that my orders took a long time to arrive. My first order was actually delayed by several weeks and eventually arrived a long time after it was supposed to arrive. I was redesigning a room and I had to wait for my curtains to be delivered before it was liveable in so this was a bit inconvenient. I also thought the courier was a bit 'gung ho' with my orders as they looked like they had travelled a long way when they arrived.
I didn't especially enjoy my Next experience and although I've seen items online since that I really want I have resisted signing up for another account due to the fact that I think their service is just not that great. I would therefore recommend other consumers just to shop in their high street stores and not bother with an account unless absolutely necessary!
Next stores offer a variety of products and are probably most well known for their clothing range although they do also offer ranges such as homeware and beauty. I have bought a number of products from the different Next departments over the years including clothing, shoes, kitchenware and cushions and I have always been very impressed with the quality of the products.
Prices vary in value but typically the items retail at just a little higher than your average high street store but you definitely get good quality for the price you pay. I have owned items from Next for a number of years and they still look brand new.
The store offers a big range of products and the layout of the shop is always pleasing to the eye.
The reason for my lower scoring of the store is therefore no reflection on the quality, range or pricing of their products but instead a reflection of their online store.
I have ordered an item of clothing from Next before after seeing it in store and searching for it online. That transaction was very successful and I was pleased with the courier service. However when I have used the site to browse their sale items I found it very frustrating and impractical. Recently, I used the site to browse their sale items. When scrolling down the page the items are layed out but you can only see a single thumbnail picture of the item with a short description. It is not possible (or at least not obvious) to get more information or pictures of the product which left me annoyed and ending my search.
The store itself is lovely and there are some lovely products available but the online site needs improvement.
I have been a loyal customer of Next's for the best part of 10 years shopping with them both online and in store. I use them for the entire family including gifts at Christmas for extended family. Approximately 70% of my children's clothing comes from Next which at times has frustrated me. The truth is with children's clothes that they have the best quality and cutest things widely available on the high street. Next's kids clothes might cost a little more than other brands but they wash well and are generously sized meaning I get that little bit of extra wear out of them. You do have to watch some of the more recent pricing though as some things are unreasonable, for instance I recently picked up a little girl's skirt aged 12-18 months and was shocked to see it priced at £19! I do think that certain items such as this are priced so that the company still makes money when they are half price in the sale. The same can be said for many of the jeans which can easily be £15-16, you won't pay this price for adult jeans in Primark!
Throughout the years I have also gone through my fair share of women's wear. I think that over years I have become used to their pricing, which like I said certainly lends itself to the end of season sale period, because now when shopping elsewhere I find myself thinking how cheap other stores stores are. Sometimes though the convenience of Next takes over, the ability to go online and order up to 10am for next day delivery is appealing. Their range is extensive meaning I can usually find the items that I require. I don't ever doubt the quality of Next clothes as I have never had any significant issues. The delivery charges are a frustration for me, I resent paying any kind of delivery charge based purely on the savings that the retailer is already making by retailing the product online which is far cheaper than presenting it in a store setting. The standard charge is £3.95 and there is no spend that will reduce this. For this reason I normally select free delivery to my local store, not only is this free but I can collect at a time that is convenient to me.
Now for the Next sale, over the years I have picked up one or two tricks to bagging the best bargains. The best of these has to be the VIP sale online. This is where account holders that meet a certain criteria get a preview and first access to the sale online. The criteria last year was having more than £350 credit on your account, you must have received a Next Directory and ordered from this while not returning more than a third of the goods. If you are lucky to receive an invite then grab the earliest slot quickly as they will soon go and it is essential that you get an early slot if you have any hope of getting the bargains. I have had many of these slots but even meeting the criteria is not a guarantee that you will be invited to the VIP. Once in the VIP sale put the most important bits in your basket and check out quickly before they go out of stock. You will be able to go back into the sale and shop again. I could probably write a book with the things that I have picked up along the way but I don't want to rabbit on! Hope this helps someone to save a few pounds and grab a bargain!
The clothes are always of a good quality, and wash really well. I especially notice the quality of the children's clothes as they keep their shape no matter how many times they have been through the wash, where some cheaper brands would have shrunk, or gone out of shape.
I love the online ordering which arrives next day as long as you order before 9PM. The women's range always has something that I fancy ordering, whatever the occasion. The courier always comes within the time slot I have selected, and returns are really easy too. Everything is well packaged, with each item ordered individually wrapped inside the parcel too.
I find the sizing to be pretty accurate, so when I am ordering I know I do not need to order 2 different sizes just in case, as I might in some shops.
I recently tried to order a few items from the sale though, and found it a great disappointment. The system kept crashing, it also kept changing whether an item was available or not, and when I went to confirm the order at the end some had changed to unavailable at the last minute. The next day delivery was not happening at this time, and some of my items were going to take up to 8 weeks to arrive. I ended up cancelling the order as it was too much hassle, and really not worth paying delivery for the 3 items which were available to come in 8 weeks time!
I have had an account with Next.co.uk for about 10 years.
Next are a company that sell clothes and household goods. They are available online, in store and also have a catalogue which is available for you to order from. Next prides itself on good customer service and this is clear from the service you will receive from them.
Next sell clothes for just about anyone. They have babies clothes, children's, men's and women's they also have a fantastic range of homeware and even furniture.
They have changed a lot over the last few years and now offer fast next day delivery and you can even select a delivery slot, this is offered for a fee or alternatively you can order and get the item delivered to a store of your choice for free. The item is normally there within 5 days with this service but over the last few months they have started to offer next day instore delivery for a fee of just 50p which I think is excellent value.
I have ordered many items on line and very rarely have I had any problem with availability of the size I need, on a couple of occasions around Christmas time they did not have the size I wanted in stock but it came in within 10 days which I thought was good.
I find the layout of the website really good and very easy to use. You can search for items either by the name of the item ie jeans or with the item code if you have that. They have a large variety of sizes and offer long leg on all trousers and also offer petit sizes too. If you just want to browse you can just select womens clothing and look through the whole selection (a bit like you would with a catalogue).
When the items are delivered but if they do not fit you can return them by the courier or if it is easier you can return it in store, I have done this several times and ordered the correct size to be delivered to the same store so it saves you wasting money on delivery again and you can do it all in one trip.
The pictures on the website are great and offer you the facility to zoom in so you can see the detail of items.
Next normally have a big sale twice a year but in the last year have started having a clearance section on their website where you can pick up items at half price or better at anytime I have used this loads in the last few months for the kids ive picked up several pairs of nice jeans at half the price if you arnt bothered about a particular item then you should definitely pick up a bargain.
There are a few options when paying for items with next you can pay in full using debit or credit card or you can open a next account and this offers you to pay monthly for items if you need to.
Next products are lovely, fact. I started shopping there 8 years ago when I was pregnant with my daughter. I know the credit charges are excessive but if you pay it straight away there is no interest, and it can be handy to spread the cost when children grow suddenly! So, why have I fallen out with next? The courier and customer services are atrocious. The courier service is about the worst I've encountered; they deliver on the wrong day which means apologising to inconvenienced neighbours or playing find the package in the rain (yes I have had things left outside in the rain!) I called to cancel because it was putting a strain on my relationship with my neighbours, and was reassured the courier would have feedback, and my service would improve. I decided to give Next another go. I placed a few more orders with them, I've just bought a new house so I wanted to test the water before I annoyed my new neighbours. I had an email when I was in work to say my order had been delivered, I came home and asked my dad who gad been waiting in for it where it was, and he replied no one had been around! There was no calling card left, and although I looked around the garden (yes in the rain) I couldn't find it. I called next for help, confident they would help as they new how unhappy I had been. Next's response was: that I should go around my neighbours trying to find this, and I was responsible for it until it turned up. I was appalled by this and sent a complaint in, surprisingly I haven't had a response. The parcel did eventually turn up with a neighbour; I find it shocking that someone isnt prepared to deliver something addressed to me to me! I have called next and cancelled my account, and have left feeling very unvalued. So, you want pretty next things go for it, but do yourself a favour and go to the shops!
I ordered some clothes from the Next website and selected delivery for a Saturday, giving them almost a week to arrange delivery. The delivery times given were between 8am and 6pm, so I waited in all day. 6pm arrived and no delivery so I called their customer services department. They told me my goods were at the depot but hadn't been collected by their courier, they were totally unhelpful and fobbed me off telling me someone would call me today. In the meantime I emailed them telling them to arrange a delivery for this evening and call me this afternoon to confirm the details. As yet I have heard nothing from them, no replies and no delivery. This is probably the most incompetent company I have ever dealt with and I certainly won't be buying anything from them again :(
After selecting the items I wanted from their website I had to place the order 12 times! This is because the address system from the UK is different from that of other European countries and there's no way you can change it online. So basically it will not match your card statement address and everytime you try your basket is emptied.
Anyway I called Customer Services who ummed and ahhed and finally changed it manually so that I could place an order. Still didn't work. Tried one last time and everything seemed to go through.
So then I wait for my order......three weeks with nothing and I check my bank account again. There's a refund there (partial) which I have been charged for. I call Next who say there's a problem with the address so the order was cancelled. Errrrr...... so why did no-one tell me??? They can't tell me why I was refunded only a 5th of the amount but will change my address AGAIN and that I should order again. Riiiiiiiiiiight, so that you can cancel my order, not tell me and so that I incur further bank charges after waiting 3 weeks? Oh and so I can also speak to some condescending eejit on the phone and pay for that too? Sounds like a great idea.
To be honest Next, I won't waste my time. Your clothes are not that good quality even if they do look good. I shall give my money to someone else.
Next is an online clothing store which also has high street stores as well and the biggest thing which makes me get drawn to the website is the quick delivery.
You do have to pay for delivery but if you work out the cost of going to your nearest store is expensive why not go online is what I think.
The website has all the items inside the store so if you have failed to find an item at the right size you might find it online which is very good if you're in desperate need of the item.
I have found a few items online which are online cheaper than they are in store and usually the sizes you want are always in stock online unless in a sale which is where the sizes you might want are going to sell pretty quickly.
You find items via the search idea at the top of the website which gives you the option of searching by key words and if you find a good enough items you can make the purchase. I was aware that you can reserve items in store and I have never done this but I saw the option recently which again could be useful for people.
When you have an item sent to you they tend to have it arrive the next day which is fantastic service and if the item does not fit you can go to your nearest store and get your money back instead of sending the item back off which will cost you postage costs on top as well.
The website is good because it sells kids, men and women clothing and they have everything ranging from simple tops to jeans and even the top quality coats as well. I do think they have a good website because if you need size measurements they try and explain the sizes they have because each store tends to have a variation of what size is which and situations like this make you aware of what your buying which helps.
The website is simple to use so navigation is good and the prices are very good as well and when they have a sale you're always guaranteed to get a really good bargain. I would like perhaps more colour to the site there is an awful amount of black there which is alright because of their logo of the company is black and white but they might need more colour to the website.
I think the pictures and details on the items is pretty good and you sometimes find items online you never saw in store as well so it pays to visit their website.
I first discovered Next.co.uk by accident. I had never really thought that the style of clothes in there would be my sort of thing but when searching for some shoes one day, I stumbled upon the website and found just the shoes I was looking for. I would have preferred to be able to just pay for the shoes online but as I really needed the shoes, and this is not an option unfortunately, I signed up for an account.
I can honestly say since then I have bought most of my clothes, shoes, jewellery, homeware and clothing for my children on there.
I love that I can order something at 4.55pm and it arrives the next day. I also like that if I am not happy with my items, I can return them for free.
What is best about Next is the quality of their products. I have clothing that I have had for years that still look as good as new and the prices are very affordable and reasonable.
The website is very easy to use and shows the products well. There are zooming options on most items so that you can get a close up view.
There are also style ideas and the latest season trends shown.
When you go to the checkout, you have to put in your account details and then choose your preferred day for delivery. You can also choose whether you want your delivery before 1pm,after 1pm or anytime.
Next day delivery is available on orders made before 5pm and costs £3.75, which I think is very reasonable.
I would definately recommend Next!
In recent years I've become increasingly favourable towards next clothes. As with all clothes shops, I always find the women's sections to be better than men, but I guess that's just because men are limited to the style of clothes they can wear more so that women. I find the jeans and jumpers to be the best clothes on sale from Next. They offer a range of styles in mens jeans, which are also in a range of denim colours. I don't think you can go wrong with a pair of dark boot cut, skinny or straight leg jeans. I have a few pairs of next jeans in a different colours and styles and they can last for years, and when they can be purchased for a minimum of £20, the quality is very good.
I also have a number of jumpers from next, which are also high quality, but after a while some do tend to look their age and either fade or rub up. My green V-neck jumper ended up with a whole in the shoulder and I hadn't worn it that many times. For around £18, you expect something to last a little longer.
Next also had a range of home wear including pictures and mirrors and sofas and wallpaper. I wouldn't consider purchasing a sofa from Next as I prefer to go to a better quality shop. However, the wallpaper is good quality for the price, as a result I used it in my living room. I also have a couple of mirrors, rugs and lamps from Next as they are very fashionable and a reasonable price.
Next also had a number of clearance stores, which offers old stock at a reduced price. Most of the time, I feel these stores are a waste of time if you don't go regularly enough because the good stuff will go as soon as it hits the shop floor. The only thing I have ever brought was a jumper I saw in the real next stores, that was reduced from £25 to about £8. The stock in these clearance shops tends to be there for a long time. Its been at least two years since I brought that jumper, and its still in the shop.
Also, i find for the men, their sales tend to be full of rubbish when compaired with the womens sales. However, i havent been to a sale as soon as it open when the best stock is there. Afterall im not going to get up to be there at five in the morning for when some of their sales start.
I've never been a fan of Next, every time I went into my local next store, in Hull; I would always ended up walking out with nothing.
I needed an outfit for my graduation coming up in the next week so I was looking on the Internet and I eventually went onto the next website. I was amazed at the range of gorgeous dresses and summer tops online that I hadn't seen in store. I ordered a summer dress for my mum and a summer top for my graduation.
I requested the order to come on a Saturday as I knew someone would be in at this time, but on the Friday I was just about to go out to work when my order came. I know this isn't the worst thing that could of happened but it was lucky I was in when it came otherwise I would have missed it.
Overall I am defiantly going to have another look online at next.co.uk before I go on holiday.
Next is a popular high street store and for as long as I can remember they have had a directory which is now online. I haven't really shopped with them online until recently.
Next.co.uk stocks everything from the directory. Displayed there is womenswear, menswear, childrenswear and homeware. The system allows you to set up an account with the company or will allow you to make a one off payment (as you would with any other site) and I find this to be a major plus point. In the past you were only allowed an account and now you can make a one off payment which is great for those who do not like accounts or have a poor credit rating. Delivery is either free or £3.95. If you want it delivered to your home then you have to pay (which is fair enough) but you can also have it delivered to the store which is a handy thing.
The site layout is a little bit difficult. It is set up to look like the Directory. you have to turn the pages to move through the site which is a bit difficult and a bit odd. Sometimes that makes it really difficult to search for items and you cannot search women only, once you have put in your item you have to then narrow it down on the panel on the lefthand side. It is an extensive list but it is still a little annoying. It isn't possible to just look at tops or just look at bottoms or whatever. I found that to be annoying. You also cannot search by product number which is a shame!
One thing which is a bit annoying is that the site is an extension of the Directory. Next runs the two like sister organisations. Some items will never appear in any store and some items are in the store and will never be in a Directory. Therefore, the website only ever has anything from the Directory on it so you sometimes cannot buy the items on the website if they only go in the store which is a shame if you really like something!!
Overall, I think that the site is a good one if a little difficult to navigate around. I like the option to have no account and to be able to have something delivered to the store. It is a handy tool if you cannot get to the shop all the time and generally has all the things that you can find inthe directory. It is a bit more convinient if you cannot ring an 0844 number or haven't got time to speak on the phone.
Next.co.uk is a fine service of online shopping.
Next has always been a popular high street store but the online service that next offers is ideal for those people who don't enjoy hitting the town centres or simply don't have the time.
Next online sells most things these days along with the huge variety of clothing they offer. Household appliances, furniture and grooming products to name a few.
They offer a monthly statement account service which normally sees the minimum payment at around 10% of the balance you owe.
The interest on your balance is one of the cheapest I have ever seen if not the cheapest of store accounts.
They offer a delivery service of high quality; usually all private couriers unless the items ordered are large and bulky.
You can usually pick an am or pm delivery as well as choose your delivery day.
What is impressive about next is that they will collect any returns you have for free and credit them to your account within about 3 days.
There is also the option to have your ordered items delivered to a local next store for your convenience.
Next bring out new ranges of clothing every season. This will bring out a new catalogue which will automatically be delivered to your home if you are an account holder for a small fee of £3.50.
The next catalogue caters for everybody and gives so much choice.
Next is at the middle of pricing market. They are not the cheapest but one thing is guaranteed and that is the products next sell are all very good quality especially the clothing.
A downside to next is that if you order anything it goes straight to a bill. There is not option to buy on the spot and you have to wait until the next month's statement.
If you have a decent credit rating and can control your account spending then next is just right for you.
