Advantages: See in your own home, Clothes that are not in the shop
Disadvantages: waiting for post
If you want to shop on line or through Next catalogue which Next call "Shopping with Next Directory" the first thing is getting hold of the catalogue.
To get a catalogue you will need to telephone 0845 600 7000.
Someone from Next will then deliver this to your door.
The first thing you will notice is that the catalogue has a hard cover so it is not easily ripped or torn. It looks very smart and if you wanted to buy this from the store it would cost £3.50 and you would have to order it.
It has 432 glossy pages.
Next is not just for women. There are sections for men, boys and children too.
The catalogue itself is very well set out swith beautiful clear bright photographs and the price against each picture as well as by the write up at the side.
It is clearly and presisely written what the item is, the price, material, size and then the catalogue number. A different catalogue is given for each colour.
They team up tops and bottoms great so you will probably end up buying both!
Besides clothes and shoes they have beach equiptment, games and items for the beach or your garden. Men and womens jewellery with some very unusual but nice pieces. Then they do caps, wallets and even sun glasses.
One unusual section is the parasols and directors chairs plus sun loungers and hammocks. I just wish our garden was larger to have some of these in it.
If you do have a large garder you might well be interested in the wooden garden furniture. That is not the only items for the garden as they have a section called planters and accessories. I did think these to be rather on the expensive side though.
Next also does fresh flowers which can be ordered 30 days in advance. If the photographs of these plants are anything to go by you get a real good deal. They average about £26-£30 and they are luxury and beautiful. Some even go for £20 with their own vase.
I would not personally go for this but they even have Next Vision. They have designed a range of reading glasses and tinted glasses.
Next say it is not necessary to see an optician before buying but recommend you see one at least every 2 years for a check up. In the catalogue there is even a sight testing chart and directions how to choose which lens strength you need.
They have a good variety of glasses to suit all the different shaped faces.
If none of this appeals or you dont know which to choose for someone then you can always buy their gift vouchers which range from £10 to £200.
If you also have a shop near you you will find that many of the items that you see in the catalogue will not be found in the store.
When you have decided what you want to buy things could not be easier. You telephone the number that they give you making sure before you ring that you have all the information at hand such as the catalogue number, size colour etc. Some items you can have next day delivery but goods are usually with you in 3 days.
If the item when it arrives does not fit or you do not like it you can return it free of charge. You can do this by either posting it or by taking it back to the shop.
You can arrange flexible payments.
When you receive the goods you will be pleased with the quality of them.
I love the store and the catalogue a lot and would definately recommend it to anyone.

- 27/05/05 I can never find anything either in store or in the catalogue. I'll stick to Primark! x

- 08/04/05 I was not so impressed with their catalogue. The website does not make it clear you have to pay for it - I ordered thinking it was free, and then got landed with a bill afterwards. Still, the clothes were good.
