Advantages: Cheap, Very well designed site, No delivery charge

Disadvantages: No problems so far

With my family's birthday season coming up I thought I'd look about for a place to get hold of DVDs which was a little better than the usual Woolworths, WH Smith, 101cd.com places that I've used in the past.

A workmate has pointed me, as I am now pointing you, dear reader, to the cheapest site around for DVDs in the UK.

The URL: www.dvd.co.uk

What could be easier to remember when thinking of buying DVDs online?

The site is set out quite simply, a list is on the right of the top 10 best selling DVDs, a search engine is set up on the top left for your searching.
They only sell DVDs, they have details of when they are coming available and they have one HUGE range on their site, if you try searching alphabetically (I tried under the letter "d") with the additional feature on
the search engine, you will be overwhelmed with the huge amount they have available, I would have to say that they would have just about any DVD you'll want.

Registration:
-------------

You have all the usual registration details to add here, to set your account up enter all details requested and receive their standard "Welcome" email. You're then ready to go and buy whatever you want. It really is self explanatory and any fool could do this bit.

Ordering:
---------

I put in an order for Pearl Harbour today for my brother's birthday (I'm all heart), the search was not needed as this is in the top 10 on the top right and as soon as I clicked on the link I got all the info on the film and a choice of clicking on the link to continue shopping or buying the DVD. At £14.99 how could I resist?

Once you've selected "Buy Now" you're taken through to your basket summary, follow "continue shopping" or "checkout" and you'll be taken to the appropriate screen.

As continuing shopping takes you back to the front s
creen you'll be more interested in checking out your purchase. The link takes you through to the checkout screen and you get a look at your summary, the delivery details and billing details are shown and you can edit them as needed. As with CD-WOW you have to enter your credit card details each time as it will not store them for you, this is really no problem as the prices are so cheap! The Grinch - £11.04 - AMAZING.

You are then asked to confirm the order and then get an order number to print off. All is well and good.

I can't vouch for the delivery times of this site, they advise that Pearl Harbour will be with me following the release date of 26/11/01 and I'll update this once it arrives. Similarly for Customer service, as needed, I'll report.

Overall:
--------

The dvd.co.uk site has more than exceeded my expectations, their prices are great, the login process is simple and quick and they do not charge for delivery! The site is easy to travel around, the info given sounds good and looks good and all in all I would recommend this to anyone looking for a bargain on the web.

Thanks for the tip-off - I'll be heading over, tout-suite, to do my Christmas shopping. DVD's all round for my family (except the one's getting CD's from CDWow, another site I found via DooYoo)

No DVD player here either, got the good ole Vids! Great for the richer relatives that have the DVD players though, Christmas is coming faster than you think!

Thanks for the tips on other sites all, good to see you're all looking after the poorer ones amongst us.

AND: I loved Pearl Harbopur, a great war/love/mix-up with who's seeing who type of film, my brother will like it too (putting doubts in my mind Utero).

Not much use to me not having a DVD player.
