Advantages: Range and variety of components
Disadvantages: None that are obvious (They've got Yorkshire accents :-) )
PC specialist was recommended by a friend when my old PC 'died'. I wanted a no-nonsense, bare bones PC without any software that I didn't want. They offered just that (You can choose to have all the usual software loaded on your machine, if you want :-) ) They offer a very good broad range of components so you really can choose to have exactly what you want built. I built two different specifications on their web site and then phoned up to talk to one of their technical guys. He had a look at the two specs I'd built and then advised a few tweeks to one of them which gave me my final build specification. Then it was just a matter of placing my order online. I did look at using a local company (local to me, that is) but they didn't offer nearly as broad a range of components and ended up more expensive for a lower spec machine. The only negative thing I could say about PCSpecialist is that I had to wait a few days longer than I expected (3 or 4) because of component availability. It didn't bother me because I was getting exactly what I want and it wasn't an unduely long delay. All in all, I'd be very happy to use them again.
Summary: They'll build exactly what you want
