I'm going to be undoubtedly controversial here as when I talk to people I hear mixed reviews of the store and service they've received there.

Personally I think the store's brilliant, they have one of, if not the, biggest range of desktop and laptop computers in the country which instantly makes them a definite go to on the high street, but perhaps more important than this, they also offer their online prices in store using their Collect@store system. Now while I've seen more than a couple of would be customers get irate at store staff over the price disparity instore and online it's really quite simple, go online, do your product research, and reserve to pick it up in store an hour later. The reason you pay less is this means that PC World staff don't have to spend half an hour explaining why you need a number 56 cartridge instead of a number 23 yellow. You don't use the staff so you don't pay for them, come into store, use their expertise and you do. Admittedly if you just stop in for a cartridge for convenience you lost out a little but what can you do? We pay for convenience.

Service is the same, PCW have a large number of customers, so have a proportionately high number of returns and repairs to deal with, but they have strict time scales to work within, and if they don't meet those they will offer replacement items.

Admittedly we all know we've had that horrible experience with the 'guy in the purple shirt who doesn't know his RAM from his ROM' but at the end of the day most of their staff are well intentioned people who if spoken to as you expect them to talk to you, and allowed time to find answer to questions that they don't know, will serve you well. And lets face it, if we knew the answers ourselves, we wouldn't be asking the questions would we?

Summary: Go there, you're not going to find anyone better on the highstreet.
