My husband and I decided to get a kitten and so we needed to buy quite a few supplies to be ready for our new arrival.
I did some research looking for a cat tree and found this website.
They have a really wide range of products some of which I've never seen before anywhere else.
They cater for a range of pets including fish and even for wildlife and chickens but they don't have anything for exotic animals.
They also offer cat and dog insurance and have a few articles on different breeds, pet behaviours and health issues.
One of the things that is exclusive to petplanet is a set of products called 'kitty city' where you can buy separate stand alone pieces of cat furniture that also fit together to create an activity space. We chose a piece called the tower which was £22, it's flat pack and you need to put it together yourself but it's really easy.
You can pay using Amazon which is handy so you don't have to sign up to yet another site, and you know it's secure.
They were offering free delivery when you spent over £39.00, however we opted to pay £2.99 for express delivery so we ordered on Tues night and it was delivered on the Thursday.
The products were well packaged and were exactly what we were expecting. I even up cycled the sturdy box it came in into a cat box castle which the kitten loves to play in also.
It's definitely worth a look if you're a pet owner!
Petplanet has been established for about 14 years and currently boasts over a million registered members. It's one of the biggest online pet retailers in the UK. I've been shopping with them for several years now and it's the first site I go to if I want to look for anything for my dogs.
One of the best features is the number of customer reviews on the products. When you shop online you do miss being able to see and handle the product and I find that honest customer reviews are very helpful. If I'm looking for something that my dog can't chew for instance, a quick look at the reviews will always enable me to see if the product is going to be suitable or not. These reviews have saved me a lot of time and money.
Petplanet sells a huge range of goods for dogs, cats and all small animals, and fish. Some of these products are Petplanet's own range and I've found them to be good quality and good value. They also have a price promise that offers to credit the difference in price to your credit card if you can find the same product cheaper and despatched just as fast as Petplanet.
I have bought a lot of dog products from Petplanet and all of them have been delivered very quickly. Some of the dog food was delivered the next day. When I wanted a special soft cone for my dog to wear after surgery I was able to get this delivered by express delivery the following day. There was an extra charge for the service but I was willing to pay that. I had every confidence that the cone would arrive on time and it did.
The only problem I have ever had with this company was when they delivered my dog food to another address in our village and I had to go and pick it up. Petplanet gave me a sincere apology and a £5 voucher to use against my next purchase.
WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT FROM PETPLANET?
Free delivery if you spend £39 or more with delivery from Monday to Friday 8.30am - 5.30pm excluding Public Holidays. Items are dispatched within two days. There is also an express service.
The Petplanet price promise so that you get the best possible price on products.
A very good refund policy which means that you can get your money back on anything faulty. They also say, "In the event of a customer purchasing an item from PetPlanet.co.uk mistakenly and through no fault of PetPlanet.co.uk, we will be pleased to replace or refund the item provided that the original item is returned to PetPlanet.co.uk unused and in saleable condition."
Petplanet accepts all the main credit and debit cards and because the payment service is outsourced they don't keep your card details.
I have a lot of faith in Petplanet to do get the orders right and to get them dispatched quickly and efficiently. However, they are a huge company and no-one can be 100% accurate all of the time so after such a lengthy and positive shopping experience with them I would forgive them if they ever got my order wrong.
Terrible experience from this place, I would not use if at all possible. My experience: Placed an order online, 2 weeks later, no contact from them and no goods. I email to enquire as to where the goods are ... no response. Two days later a dispatch email is sent, two days after that 1 out of 10 items I order is received. No other items follow, so I email again, this time I get an email back saying we will get back to you ... 3 days later I get told I have received said items. So I call to ask why I have been charged for items I have not received, no apology, but a nice admittance that they hadn't bothered to get back to me. Upshot from the conversation is utter surprise that I would like my money back, the price for the carriage is not refunded, so in all .... I have just paid £5.50 for a large toilet roll .... Thanks very much! A wonder that companies like this can operate in this day and age.
Pet planet is a website I came across when I was looking for a crate for our young dog we were about to get. We had meet Banjo at a re homing centre near us and although we knew he was going to be hard work there was just something about him we liked. We had to get a crate he was a very bouncy dog who loved chewing toys I couldn't take the chance on a night. Whilst searching for a crate Google brought up pet planet that was at the time reducing their crates. So I had to have a look.
My initial opinion of the website was it looked a bit messy and over full. My eyes didn't know where to look they were darting all over the screen. Down the left hand side of the screen is a list of subtitles for everything you could think of for all pets. The list seems endless. Along the top is offer subtitles for all the different animals it stocks things for and underneath delivery options, about us and feedback etc. In the middle there are things flashing and big offer signs for certain things and list of their hot products. I found it did take a while to get your head around it all but after a while you do get there and it is worth it!
-----What the site has to offer-----
The websites offers products for dogs, cats, rabbits, fish, hamsters, guinea pigs and other small furries! There really is nearly everything you can think of on the site from food to cages to toys to health products and on. The dog section was the part I was after and this was extensive. I used the section down the left hand side and under dog products there are twenty eight subtitles! Just looking at the food they had was a mammoth task as I didn't realise they did that many different makes of dog food! I had to be carefully to not spend too much as I can imagine with everything they stock at your finger tips it would be quite easy to do so.
So I found the crate I was after and decided to add a toy to the basket as he would need something to play with being only a year old. As my sister already had two Staffie crosses I knew how good chewers they could be so opted for the extreme Kong and also added a grooming glove to it too.
The pricing for products on the site are about average but they do have some good offers on products making things quite a bit cheaper when you get them on offer.
-----Checking out and delivery-----
There are two delivery options standard delivery is free for orders over £29 and £3.99 for orders under £29. Mine came to just over £29 so I was eligible for free delivery. Or if you are in need for it to arrive quickly you can opt for express delivery which is an extra £2.99 on top. I felt the delivery options ok but you are better off buying in bulk.
Checking out was fairly simple making an account was something you needed to do and will be handy for when I return in the future. The site also takes PayPal as a payment which I really like as if you're not too sure at least you can put it through PayPal.
The products I received were just as on the website I was very pleased with them. The only problem I had was during transit the plastic tray of the crate had broken at the corner. Other than that I was very pleased with the quality for the price I paid.
Contact details for the company are easy enough to find on the site and when I found the tray of our crate had been slightly damaged I contacted them straight away with pictures of the damage. I explained the situation of getting a new dog and I didn't want to really send it back and wait for a replacement as I could still use it but it wasn't right. They responded very quickly to my query and were very happy to send out a replacement and asked me to just dispose of the broken one when it arrived. The replacement arrived a day later. I was very impressed with the way they dealt with my problem and couldn't recommend them more highly.
I will certainly be using this site again even if the actually site is a bit annoying I guess I will grow to like it in time. To avoid the steep postage fee on orders under £29 I will only be using it when I have a largish order or when I group together with my sister!
Just to let you know two months on and Banjo is doing really well and has calmed down a lot. He still sleeps in his crate as he has really taken to it but there isn't much need for it.

I have been shopping with PetPlant for 4 years and have never had any problems with the service or the products. Delivery is always prompt and items well packaged. The range of products is wide and offers a good choice of quality/cost too. I can't fault the service, products or value of money. The reviews on the site are really useful too, obviously written by genuine pet owners wishing to share their honest opinions. The site is easy to navigate, descriptions are clear and the photos are a real help. I would certainly recommend PetPlant to others and will continue to use the website for all my pets needs.
Especially since I had a bad experience with a bogus pet supply company, I appreciate PetPlanet even more. I've ordered from them twice for rather large items. Each time the goods arrived quickly and as described. I've spoken on the phone once to them and customer service was friendly and efficient. These people are great!
I first used petplanet a few weeks ago to purchase some collars and dog treats. I was very impressed with the prices and service.
The prices are usually half the RRP or less, for example i bought 2kg of Pedigree dog treats for £4, instead of the RRP £7 which was great as there was no difference in the quality or quantity of the product.
Layout wise the website is extremely simple with heaps of options and suggestions made clear to you. I've found it can freeze at times but after a few minutes it's fine. It does this on both my laptop and my boyfriends laptop so it's definetly a glitch in the website rather than the viewer's computer. I love the fact that Petplanet have a feature where you can review the product you bought, which they do not edit or delete negative reviews.
There's a sale catergory which is ridiculously cheap but does sell out quickly.
There is a large variety of products to choose from throughout the site, seperated into catergories such as 'rabbits, guineapigs, cat, dogs,' etc.
Once you click on the animal category it will let you choose which product you'd like to buy, eg collars, treats, bedding, food, medication.
Delivery is slightly expensive at £4, (free on £29 or over orders), but as it's delivered by a courier who handles your products with care and delivers within 5 days I think it's pretty much worth it!
Signing up is quick and easily, while payment is simple and the site is secure.
I'll certiannly be shopping with them again in the near future and would reccomend to anyone who buys a fair amount of pet products to register - you'll find that the prices are great value!
I have been really impressed with Pet Planet and have placed several orders with them. They have an excellent variety of items (I have shopped for cat and dog products) at good prices but they also stock the higher end ranges.
I had a small problem with an item I bought and mentioned it in a review of the product on the site. Although I hadn't contacted the customer care team directly they still replied to me and were extremely helpful especially considering how minor the problem was and that I had not requested help. They send out surplus spare parts for the product free of charge.
Another thing I like on the site is that they allow customer reviews on all their products and I can confirm that they do not edit or omit negative reviews. This makes it much easier when deciding which product is most suitable and the best value.
I will definately be shopping with them again and have recommended them to family and friends.
Edit 31-07-2012. Since I posted this review a large sur-charge has been added for deliveries to Island and Highlands, as such I would no longer use the site unless I was placing an order large enough to make it worth it.
I've been using PetPlanet to purchase my dog food and misc. dog products for quite a long time, about 2 years-ish. They are certainly usually cheaper than most online pet stores, but it still pays to check the competition out as usually doesn't mean "always." Delivery is usually faster as well, providing there are no snowstorms in Scotland, in which case your order may turn up several weeks late. (I am still not sure how much of that was PetPlanet though, and how much of it was the courier.) Customer service could use a bit of work, it's generally decent but it can sometimes take them awhile to respond to a query, (for example, I am still waiting, 3 days now, for a response to an email asking about when a product will be back in stock) But if you call them usually they are decent at resolving issues. The website is decent as well with multiple search angles, making it fairly easy to navigate to the products you want. Sometimes, however, when you click on an individual product to have a closer look, the page will come up blank, making it impossible to purchase. You can refresh all you want but they are just not there, and there is no problem loading other pages, so these "ghost pages" as I call them can be a bit of a pain. The website, therefor, could use a bit of work. Still, in spite of some minor drawbacks, generally it's the cheapest, and the quickest to deliver, and they DO take great care to carry top quality pet products. I recommend it.
I recently had to give up my car, but was already sold on using Pet Planet online. They stock a great range of products, their prices are excellent and their delivery superb. I have had courier problems with other online pet stockists, but not with Pet Planet. You are talking 1 - 2 days. It is on Pet Planet that I have settled on my favourite cat litter and cat food and the reviews they have are very useful. On the one occasion I needed to phone them I found them very helpful. Best online retailer for pet products, I think.
Pet Planet is the best place online to shop for your pets. Great customer service, fast delivery - always on time, good prices and wide range of products . I always shop there . I found Pet Planet a year ago and I've never even tried anywhere else as I really can't imagine better service. My dog loves her food and got her favourite toys from there. I truly recommend Pet Planet!!
I am a recent new customer to Pet Planet, i found they had loads of stuff (i spent a fortune!), the only thing i found dissapointing was the lack of 'soft harnesses' for my small dog, however the ANCOL TENNIS BALL LAUNCHER i purchased and the BAG OF TENNIS BALLS was a lot cheaper than i could find anywhere else. I am disabled and in a wheelchair and the Tennis Ball Launcher i think should be advertised as good for people like us as it has changed my and my dogs life, it has enabled me to now, throw the ball and pick it up, for him both tasks i found very difficult on my own before!
The goods were delivered fast and in good order. A small gripe was the Ancol Collar (soft cheap one) did not have 'eyelet holes alrady in it' which meant i had to get someone to help me, but i suspect that is more Ancol's fault in their description.
The Ancol Soft grip comfort lead is brilliant again for me as my hands get sore.
I think they are a competive priced store and for people like me it makes shopping easier.
My dog is very happy and says 'Thank You' (woof woof!) to Pet Planet!
We have ordered a number of items from Pet Planet, the latest being a dog gate to stop me falling down the stairs again. I'm a very elderly retired guide dog and my leg muscles are getting weak. I also have little accidents, so we buy cleaning materials and I have a Danish Snuggle bed.Every time we have used Pet Planet delivery has been within a few days and the product has always "done what is says on the label".
petplanet is a verry good shop you can find everything you need for all your animals verry good quality and verry good prices and verry good packt en deliverd on time an exelent choice to shop at petplanet, my dog love the cesar alutubs, and my cat love's the gourmets range, and the birds outside love also everything I'll get for them from petplanet, petplanet dont need more words to expain why they are one of the best online shops theire are for animal needs, and for ower bank ballance, thank you petplanet to be theire kind regards Siegfried xxx
I like to buy special gifts for my dog on her birthday and christmas (apart from other goodies throughout the year)Pet Planet always seems to have the ideal gift for her. I have always found their products to be reasonably priced and of excellent quality. Their service is second to none! and communication, either through email or telephone is always prompt, products are dispatched quickly, even with the christmas chaos. They truly know the meaning of customer service, which combined with their product range is why i wouldn't hesitate to recommend them and will keep on returning to them for my next purchase.
