“ Pet Superstore. „
I've bought many products from the Pets at Home online store now and have had a reasonable experience.
I have two cats and have bought most of their products from Pets at Home (either instore or online) primarily because its convenient rather than any sort of exceptional service i have received. I would echo other reviews about in store staff who typically dont have much knowledge about thier products but this review is about their website.
I've found the product range online (for cats primarily) pretty decent, i've always been able to find what i was looking for at a fairly competitve price. There's a good range of food, toys, beds, scratching posts, litter trays and litter as well as other things including flea, mite and worm treatments and various cleaning products. In my opinion it has a pretty complete selection of products.
There are always promotions available on Pets at Home online, i almost always am able to get Hills Science Plan cat food on some sort of offer - either 3 for 2 or buy 1 get 1 half price. It also has the advantage of being able to buy in bulk and have it delivered to your door!
Delivery is free, i think on orders over £29 but i typically spend alot more than that in a single transaction. I haven't found any special delivery options (e.g. next day) but there is the ability to leave instructions for the delivery driver (e.g. leave with neighbour, etc). Delivery is within 4 working days and in my experience deliveries have always been in the evenings which is really handy if you're out all day at work.
All in all i think Pets at Home offer a pretty good online service. I would like to see more delivery options and as its a pet website perhaps a bit more product information or advice online but i have always found their products to be good quality and relatively competitive to other high street pet stores.
I have used the Pets at Home chain of stores and found their choice unbeatable but often their prices a little too expensive. This review is going to be of my experience with www.petsathome.co.uk.
Although I have often shopped at my local Pets at Home store I had never though about ordering online. It wasn't until I was searching for the best price on my Hills Science Plan dog food that their website flashed up. It is very easy to use with a search bar for speed, or you can search via the type of animal, the type of product or the brand. It is bright and eye catching and the main homepage shows all the current deals.
Special Online Offers
The website offers many special offers that aren't available in store. Both instore and online had my dog food on offer for £30 for a 12kg bag (saving around £14) but the website then upted the offer having the same bag on offer buy one get the second half price (x2 12kg bags for £45 saving £47 in total). I was so chuffed. The offer was only on for one day so I ordered immediately, but then offer was extended for 4 days. I ended up buying 6 bags to stock up on this brilliant offer!
Not only does the site offer special offers which the stores don't have but you can also claim cash back through different websites. I use topcashback.co.uk and get 5% back.
Delivery is £3.99 or currently free if you spend over £25. My items came within 4 days and were well packaged. I have had no difficulties with any part of ordering or delivery.
Great easy to use site that offers some great deals that you cna't get in store. Eg at the moment James Wellbeloved Cat and Dog food is buy one get one free (only for today!). The savings are immense and most of the time I spend enough to qualifiy for free delivery. The delivery is fast and well packaged. I am now using this website for my 3rd order in 3 months. I love it and the cash back is great too!
Pets at Home is a pet superstore and can usually be located at your local retail park. Personally I am like a kid in a sweet shop when I go there, so have to practise great self-restraint and control and only come out with what I went for! If you love your pets and are just too tempted by the myriad of bits and bobs you are able to buy for them, I'd give it a wide berth!
I've never bought an animal from Pets at Home, only food, litter and other items for our cat and our dog...a 1 year old British Shorthair cat and a 1 year old border Collie. I have found it to be good value, you can often get offers if you buy multi-packs or in bulk. They also have their own range of products. I always buy their own brand gourmet catfood. I'm not joking when I say it looks good enough for human consumption! The own brand products range from a budget range right up to a premium range so there should be something to suit everyone.
In most stores there is an in-house dog grooming parlour. I think it costs around £25 for a full service for your dog! There is also a pet adoption area where the store has animals for re-homing. I always want to take them all home so have to resist.
There is a large area selling cold water and tropical fish, an area with small pets like mice, rats and hamsters and another with rabbits, guinea pigs and chinchillas. I also noticed some tortoises at my local store the other day! £300 per pair!
I have always found the staff to be approachable and friendly, although I have never particularly asked for any advice so I can't comment on how knowledgeable they are.
This store sells absolutely everything you could need for your pet. I don't think you could be disappointed.
this store is great for buying pet food or toys. we have lots of fun looking around with the children at the animals in store and can spend hours arguing over which silly christmas statue we are going to put in out fish tank. but for advice and helpfulness i personaly find this store useless and not to mention over priced on a lot of products. we brought a rabbit from here a couple of years ago , great price and a heathy little thing , we brought her a hutch for outside and a indoor hutch also ( as we were planning on keeping her indoors but letting her out for the full run of the garden, but she needed shelter) this rabbit was sold to us as dawf lop and we were told at the time the hutches we had brought would be great and she would have loads of room even as a adult . my bunny is now 3 years old and is far too big for a hutch ( now lives in the house and garden like the dog does) and weighs in at just under 2 stone, vet says we havent over fed her, this is her size and shes a large breed. we have also over the years had fish that we have had to take back after they are infected, a boy hamster who turned out to be a girl with babys. THIS STORE DOESNT KNOW ITS RABBITS FROM DINOSAURS AND ITS WOMBS FROM TESTICALS!!!! and ill never ask for advice becuse everytime i have the reply is always the same ..... EMMMMMM IM NOT SURE!!!!
