Disadvantages: Terrible customer service.

Pixmania is an online site selling electrical goods such as TV's, DVD players, camera's, all that sort of thing. I found it after running a check on pricerunner.

Last month out beloved projector finally popped its bulb. To buy a new bulb is £350 so we decided to buy a new projector instead as the price of them has rapidly decreased and we needed an HD compatable one.

After doing a number of searches on the internet it seemed that our best bet was pixmania, it had a good choice of products and at surprisingly good prices.

The site itself is very colourful and very easy to navigate round. Its fairy quick to load pages and has good information on products. The pictures of some products arent as great as i would have liked to see but the info tells you everything you need to know.

What it offers.

Aside from the good prices pixmania also offers a range of benefits including becoming a VIPix, this is a card that gets you 7% off a range of products, free delivery for a year and 20% off extended warranties. This sounded a great offer after we received the card which we got free with our purchase of our new projector. The thing is i am never going to use this site again, the service is terrible.

Ill start at the begining.

My partner orders his new procector and decides to just get the standard delivery which is 2-3 working days. All is fine and we get the conformation email. Great!!

Next day i have an email to say that they want to check random accounts to help prevent fraud. Fair enough i guess but this was a little irritating as they wanted me to send them a copy of a bank statement or bill. Luckily i had a scanner so i was able to scan one off to them and send it via email. However that would have been a real problem if i had had to post it, it would have taken ages to process.

With that out the way i thought that would have been the end of the troubles. Not likely.

I then later that evening recieve a phone call from them. The man on the phone wanted to speak to my partner and i explained that he was at work. I asked if there was a problem and he said that he was phoning to check an order. I said, yes the projector my partner has bought. He replies "oh, you know about that then?" in a rather irritated tone. I told him of course i know about it i was there when we chose it. The man then went on to ask questions about what we had bought, asking my email, jordans email, when we ordered etc...

It wasn't so much the questions which i still feel were a bit uncalled for but his manner on the phone was terrible. He was rude, abrupt and snappy. I was disgusted by the time i put the phone down.

To finish off the whole ordeal the "on-time" delivery took 3 days longer than it should of. What a nightmare. I will never buy from them again.

PROS

Good prices and loads of products
VIPix card, yes it does seem a good deal, especialy if you buy a lot of electrical goods.
They do offer extended warranties and will pay up the full cost of the product if it develops a fault.
The choice of next day delivery the price for this is quite high but worth it if you want your product ASAP.

CONS

The service, shocking!!
The delivery might not be as quick as you want it.
Worst of all, the stupid amount of emails i recieve from them with their latest product. Everytime i go to try and unsubscribe it developes an error. I cant stop them!! Its a nightmare!

My advice to anyone thinking about using them is to pay that little bit extra for good cusomer service.
