Best online retailer for multimedia (Play.com)

Advantages: Cheap, reliable, great music downloading service Disadvantages: Can take a while to process refunds I have found these to be the best on-line retailer of CDs/ DVDs on the market. There are other good ones though, most notably DVD.co.uk. Play have some of the cheapest prices going and are also quick to dispatch items out. I have used them loads of times and never had a serious problem. They did let me down once when they sent me a CD with a cracked jewel case. It looked new though, so it could well have been damaged in transit. They accepted the return with no problems and refunded the CD and postage cost, although it did take a while. Other than this I have never had a problem and I use them quite a bit. Often you can get significant discounts off even pre-order items. Most recently, this was the case with the "Dirk Gently" audio book that I ordered for half-price. Most other retailers were £2-£3 more expensive, which doesn't sound much, but if you buy on a regular basis it soon makes a difference. I would also like to quickly advertise the play.com music downloads service. It's only 65p-70p per track (c.f. iTunes 79p DRM/ 99p) for non DRM music at 320kbps (c.f. iTunes 128kbps at 79p/256kbps at 99p). Summary: Always worth checking out if you want a CD/DVD |
